Attention, SSF2 v0.9 is now fully available!

We apologize for the delay, you can download or play it in your browser by visiting our Games page as usual.

Anyway, there are a couple things you should note about this update before you play:

Why Smash balls are forced off:

We apologize for this, however we did have some delays due to the behavior of some final smashes. Rather than delay the demo for extended period of time, we really wanted to let you guys play so we decided to continue the release with it temporarily disabled. We will definitely provide a patch to take care of this so don't worry.

We have now implemented a new "version" text:

Below is a picture of the number shown at the bottom-right of the character select screen:

Image

This number tells you your version of the game, and minor/emergency updates will increase only the last digits. For example, the equivalent of v0.9a and v0.9b would be v0.9.0 and v0.9.1. A minor update to v0.9b could be v0.9.1.284. We've done this to make it easier to tell between versions of the game. However, we will not be having updates all the way to v0.9.9, so you can expect digits to be skipped for the final version. For now, just know that we do plan on a couple of minor updates to address some of the things we picked at at Apex, and at a couple more significant updates

Users who downloaded the Twitch link may want to re-download:

We force-disabled Clock Town temporarily during Apex and forgot to put it back, so we fixed this among other things.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who watched the Apex livestream!

It turned out to be a big hit at the event, and on the last day we were pushing up to 3K viewers on our Twitch at any given time. Not to mention having a couple hundred thousand total views over just a single weekend, so thank you everyone for your support!

-------------

Also, we are aware that the website is slow right now. We're experiencing a lot of traffic due to high demand, so I will be working on the issue.

First question and it's probably everyone's problem on the website version, what's up with the infinity loading?

Waiting for this demo for 14 hours was unfortunately a blast if I do say so myself.

It's great that SSF2 is getting recognition I suppose

but I can hardly even post without getting disconnected from the forum :(

on another note, I always wanted to know what those unannounced flash toons in your sig were, cleod
Maybe I'll see them when SSF2 reaches 1.0

Downloaded it, so far it's great. The graphics are pretty rad, and the new character sprites/animations look cool as well. Few technical errors here and there though. If there is anything I would complain about in terms of content would be that every character from SSB has pretty much the exact same move set as they did in SSBB. Otherwise keep up the good work guys.

The demo is EPIC, I haven't been this wow'd since v0.5. I think the starting roster is missing some Bowser in action. But seriously that is the starting line-up.....then well I love it. How did you guys manage to make it run so smooth, yet make it look so fantastic.

Meh My girlfriend broke up with me, it's like being stabbed in the heart. I know about 4 girls that have a crush on me as well, but I think I'll just go to the school dance friday.

it's not being stabbed in the heart if you're a pale skinny retard and no one wants you
also dont mistake the slightest bit of attention as a crush

I believe there is a serious issue with the Mac downloadable version. I've downloaded it three times already, and each time it says that the file is damaged. The browser version doesn't load past the white screen, either (the ad still appears, oddly enough). Can you guys fix this when you can?

I waited almost a year for 0.9 to come out, and then my laptop charger stops working, and then my laptop eventually dies the same day it comes out.

Great.

The demo is amazing! Love the new stages and playing as Bomberman is defently fun!
My only issue is Captain Falcon running faster than Sonic, is it being fixed? And why is Sonic's Lose Animation have him smiling?

I enjoyed every aesthetical aspect added in the demo, the new stages are nice, my begs for a Wario Land-eske (OK I admit I don't know how that word "eske" is spelled.) stage has finally come true, though it is not among my favourites, my only concern is the sound, music that propperly looped now seems messed, but there's nothing a patch can do, well, except for the fanfares, I was expecting something bigger, you know, something more original, I was expecting something like a podium or the like, but the checkered floor is a nice reference to the old Smash Bros. 64.
