In China, kind actions in public often have negative repercussions, which is quite unfortunate. I remember reading an article about a story a while back about a man in China who helped up an old man who had been knocked down but then had been sued because people had assumed that he had committed the deed himself.

I should note that I think I remember reading that both drivers were arrested or something.
