FF7 is a good game but I have no idea how it became so popular in the English-speaking world

The translation is an absolute f*** trainwreck

I cant mention nine then it wont be fair for the other ones

I liked Sonic and the Black Knight.
I know it's bad and I know why it's bad but that doesn't stop me from having some base level enjoyment playing it.

-bad translation as a whole, but it's forgivable.

-game-breaking glitches (using the save crystal in the wrong place can make the game outright unbeatable, for example)

-tons of programming bugs, including Pandora's Box being missable due to a bug, or your materia all being gone (which locks you out of a LOT of stuff)

-really bad design choices; if you don't have Barret in your party on a very particular staircase, his ultimate weapon won't appear, and going past that staircase is the boss fight which cuts you off from accessing that area ever again.

-lego overworld models

Mr Flosty is a very close shot, but you can't reach the perfection levels of Poppy Bro Jr.

I'm curious to know your reasoning for picking Jr. over Sr.

Because you can't play as Sr. in Super Star.

A lot of your complaints for the most part are about bugs, but I've played through the game maybe 7 or 8 times and I've never encountered them. I acknowledge that they exist, but I don't think it knocks the game as hard as you're saying.

i have absolutely no idea how you never encountered them, the pandora's box zombie dragon bug happens 100% of the time (which is frustrating, because if you don't have all 3 enemy skill materia on a character when you fight it for the first time, you miss the skill)

i've seen people get stuck with the save crystal, which was unfortunate because they wanted to fight the superbosses

i haven't gotten hit with being stuck or the materia being gone, but that's still a pretty huge bug

also one hilarious bug is that the resistance stat from your armor isn't taken into account in the damage formula, making it useless

i don't think it's a bad game by any means and i really liked playing through it, but i don't believe it's the GOAT and i believe it's hella overrated

i mean for what it's worth the original pokemon games had like a million lies about what mechanics do and how they work because of dumb programming mistakes and translation errors, which makes it a little harder to want to play through them after the fact when you know about it in hindsight but they were still obviously fun or it wouldn't have been the phenomenon it was

Gen I pokes is an example of an idea so good it works in spite of its execution

also even though there's so many f*** with the mechanics, the games are pretty tight in terms of glitches and unfinishable situations happening unintentionally

missingno is the only one that's likely and that's actually beneficial in ways lol

Let's not forget about Mew (who shouldn't be available in the game without a japan-only event).
