it had a cool mechanic but it wasn't really built upon much it's not a bad game though, worth a play or two

if you want an indie game with a cool mechanic that actually uses it well, go play VVVVVV

Yeah, this. I enjoyed it for a bit, but after a while I just felt it was a bunch of lost potential. I wouldn't buy it on its own, but if it's in a bundle or something with another game you want, buy the bundle and play it. This, too. VVVVVV >>>>>> Braid

Braid's a neat little game but I agree that it's pretentious as all f*** and doesn't make use of its own mechanics enough
Still, comparing it to VVVVVV is kind of unfair. That game's like the highlight of indie platformers, of course Braid doesn't live up to it

you can't really compare Cave Story to VVVVVV though imo
Cave Story has a lot of mechanics that work well together to make a great game whereas VVVVVV has one mechanic that works well by itself to make a great game
also since we're getting off-topic:
if I could control time I would send myself to a time before I played VVVVVV and/or Cave Story so I could play them for the first time again

I'd f*** b**** and fight crime.
Even though that's obviously my everyday life, I'll be able to do it more efficiently.

I'd get myself into a time loop so that I could play all the vidjeogames and learn all the stuff I wanted, then break the loop and emerge into the world as a supergenius who has played a lot of vidjeogames.
Also Cave Story and VVVVVV are both awesome games and if anyone reading this has not played them then they should get them and play them right now.

I'd freeze time whenever I needed either a boost of extra speed or a mental break, and I'd offset the self-aging caused by the slowdown by speeding up time during long periods when I don't do anything, such as waiting in lines, commercials, etc.; all those non-periods will add up.

not really
if you had full control over time then you'd be able to reverse the ageing (and thus, the memories) of your brain

Story time I brought DBZ: The Legacy of Goku II into the library as a kid I set it down next to me while I looked at a DBZ manga Some s*** kid had his friend step on my sandals a bunch of times and he took my game while I was distracted I didn't even notice for probably 15-20 minutes Ironically I brought it into the library because I thought it would be safer if I was holding it than if I kept it in the car I distinctly remember that my shorts had no pockets
I re-bought the game years later. Buu's Fury is better This has been story time with Term
