I don't see why everyone is b**** about this.
Get your heads out of your asses, it was patented. Lawsuits should be expected when trying to make something that's already patented.

I read up a bit on Hill crest it turns out they they are a company that make products which are used for user interaction. Apparently Nintendo was in violation of it's patents with them, so they decided to file a law suit. (Note: Hillcrest did say they respected Nintendo and the Wii console though)
So pretty much it was a lawsuit over the idea rather then the wiimote it's self.

I think Anascape's whole thing with Nintendo gave other companies the balls to find other tiny, obscure things to sue them for.
