The EU has announced 6.4mld euros (£5.4mld) of funding for scientific research and innovation next year - a 12% increase on this year's allocation.

My only question is: who will be the owner of the research on medical drugs? I'm sorry, but I feel very little for increasing corporate knowledge with public money. Public money should lead to public knowledge.

Anyway, I am happy that spending on nuclear fusion is increased.

Those have been around for some time, though. Weren't the first H-bombs (perhaps more accurately D-bombs) developed in the 1950s?

They are still fizzles compared to the total yield that could be achieved if we used all the energy from fusion. And they are called H-Bombs because Deuterium is still Hydrogen, unless science has marched on while I wasn't looking.
