Hey everyone. I'm Ya Dad. I originally registered with the Smash Flash backroom, but it's not nearly as active as this forum seems to be, so I think I'll stick around and see what's going on with this one.
I am just now getting into competitive Smash (mainly Melee and Project:M) so I don't know much about how tournament rules work as far as banned stages, counter-picking and the like. I've also discovered that, after +10 years of Smash Bros. experience (and the results of going to my first real tournament circuit), I am still a rookie Smasher. I never learned to wavedash, didn't know all the technical terms (L-cancel, teching, DI, etc.), and never played the game outside my circle of friends. I was the best out of my group, so I thought my smash skills were pretty damn godly lol. Then I went to my first real tournament and learned how wrong I was.
I discovered SSF2 a couple years ago. I don't remember what version I was playing at the time, but I remember Sora's "B" moves were a lot different than they are now, and CPU's kept grabbing me over and over, so it got annoying pretty quickly and I stopped playing. It was neat for a Smash game based on Flash, but I didn't take it seriously.
After looking up the top ten indie fan games a few months ago, I came across Super Smash Flash 2 again and gave it another shot. HOLY CRAP it's improved. The physics got overhauled, CPU's weren't cheap anymore, hitstun felt more like pre-Brawl, more characters, more stages...after playing it for awhile, I started to forget it was a flash game! I got one of my friends into it and that's the only Smash game he plays anymore (it's better than vBrawl because it's faster, less floaty, and has more hitstun, and is a lot less technical than Melee so you learn faster).
I like to think I'm pretty good at SSF2. Hopefully none of you prove me wrong once online is integrated
Ya Dad's Mario Demonstration

Hope to see you guys around.
