Hi!
This is a very different idea, but, I have a special version of v0.9b that we would like you to test. This makes a special improvement to Online Mode by increasing the number of backup frames that are sent with each data packet. This is so that if a frame is dropped, the game can recover and continue as normal - meaning, a potential lag reduction... if this works as planned. We are not sure exactly how this change will affect Online Mode, as if this number is too high it may be detrimental to players that have both low speeds and low ping, and our developers have connections that are too strong to do wide stress-testing. Thus, we need your help! This testing period will last a couple of days and may end prematurely at any time if we decide the changes are good/bad, in which case this test patch will cease to be able to connect to Online Mode. PLEASE NOTE: Players that are using this special beta test version of the game can not see or interact with users that are not unless they run the public SSF2 patch. This test patch is for WINDOWS USERS ONLY! How To Help: 1. Download the v0.9.1.1978.2 patch here: 2. Go to the folder that you currently have SSF2 installed in, and extract the SSF2 Test file from the ZIP to there. 3. Run SSF2 Test, connect to Online Mode, and play some test matches! (Room list will display rooms from other testers only, and joining will always prompt for password which can be left blank if no pass was set) 4. Post here and let us know if your connection in this test is better or worse than your public patch connection. What kind of lag are you getting, if any? Big bursts or small bursts? Did this help you not get stuck in waiting room? Rate the smoothness on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is still choppy, 10 is buttery smooth. |
