Hello MG Community, I want to start doing something a little interesting here. We're gonna start are very own Tier list of movies that we've seen each month. So for example, Anyone in the community makes their own PERSONAL tier list of movies we've seen in the last month(which can be updated) then at the end of each month, I will go through each individual list and make an official list based off of the lists submitted by the each member in the community. Then to top it off, at the end of the year, I'll make a final tier list of the movies submitted. Now note, your personal lists don't have to be limited to only movies released this year, movies submitted from previous years will be posted in a separate tier list. The only requirement is that you saw your first viewing of the movie in the designated month or at least this year.

Angels Egg (1985) - directed by the man who directed ghost in the shell with character designs by yoshida Amano of final fantasy fame, this movie is a surreal experience. With barely any dialogue it creates a nice zen atmosphere. A good anime film for people who like anime with bizarre imagery that utilizes the medium
La la land was also okay

i watched valerie and her week of wonders a while ago because i like the tumblr-gif type imagery. it's one of the most important "czech new wave" films which i guess is a huge underappreciated school of art. generally i think czech art is pretty cool so i watched it

anyway it was like 80 minutes of just that. surrealist tumblr gifs. the whole film seemed like it was an expensive and arduous excuse for the director, who is a dirty old european man who is dead now, to see the (thirteen year old) lead actress in the nude. i'm no crazy sjw type person but i tend to be pretty skeptical of any art that tries to symbolize female puberty and "coming of age" with all sorts of bloody period imagery and breast growth metaphors if it's made by a creepy old man.

still has wonderful color composition, shot framing, voodoo occult imagery for freakazoids, yeah it's a Film that looks good. i give it D tier

i also finally watched children of men at the behest of ppl who are like "this is really relevant, because refugees and fascism and s***" and it was REALLY good and holds on its own as an aesthetic experience independent of its "important message". lol at the 2006 cgi baby tho. this one gets B tier
