This is the official guide to WOLF game, a game new to this forum, but I remember being a tradition in the old MCG forum a long time ago.

Anyone who volunteers or is chosen to host WOLF game, or someone completely new to WOLF game may want to read this first.

STARTING OUT:

setting
You have to set a certain theme. You must tell where the game takes place. It can be a town, a cruise ship, or a locked down laboratory. Or ANYTHING, but you must set a theme.

Character names
When playing the WOLF game, you must make a character name for yourself for the game. You may use one character name twice or more in a row if you wish.

number of players
There must be 8 players at least. However, there can be more! The numbers of players there can be are 8, 12, and 16. There can be more than this, but idealy, it's not good to go beyond 16. 1/4 of the amount of total players must be assigned as wolves. If there are 8, assign 2 wolves, one oracle. 12: 3 wolves, one oracle. 16: 4 wolves, TWO oracles.

Types of play:
Default: Plays like normal, people who die learn who the oracle/wolf is, the identity of someone is revealed as they die.
Unknowing Ghost: People who die do not learn who the wolves/oracle are, identity of a dead player is revealed.
Masked Corpse: People who die don't learn who the wolves/oracle are, the identity of someone is not revealed as they die.

In Unknowing Ghost and Masked Corpse, the oracle can ask for a prediction even after he has died. In masked corpse, the Oracle, whether dead or not, can ask the identity of someone who has already died.

player types:
HOST
Has complete power and control over the game. Decides the theme, amount of players, etc.
SUB HOST
Same as host, but only steps up to host when the host is temporarily unable to do his job. When the real host returns, the sub-host no longer has power.
Commoner
The commoner has no power except to hang people on suspicion of being a wolf. THier purpose is to kill all the wolves before they are all slaughtered themselves.
WOLF
They have the ultimate power to kill anyone during one round. They must kill all the villagers before they find them out.
ORACLE
Same as villager, except they have the power to find the identity of any player once each round.
GUARD
Anyone in the game can be a guard. Some one who is guarding another dies if the person they are guarding has been voted to kill by the wolves or villagers. read Guarding for more information.

Round time
depending on how fast the forum goes, three days is an ideal time for one round.

PLAYING THE GAME

WOLV'ES KILL
On the first day of each round (at night) the wolves select one character to kill, and he/she dies. The wolve's worst enemy in the game is the oracle, who can find thier identities. Wolves may vote to kill one of thier own if insane enough. This can be done under "majority rules" or if the other wolf is inactive. THEY CAN NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES KILL THE HOST OR ANYONE NOT PLAYING THE GAME.
Hanging
On the third day of each round, villagers vote to hang someone on suspicion of being a wolf. They can not vote to hang themselves. They can not vote to hang the host. After hanging commences, it starts at day one again, but on the next round. Day one, the results are posted. In the event of a tie at hanging time, who dies can be determined by a dice roll, coin flip(those two are not recommended btw), or a certain type of contest.
Oracle's prediction
An oracle can ask the identity of one player anytime once each round. THey can not ask the identity of the same person twice. If the host decides not to tell who the wolves are to someone who has died, the oracle can ask the identity of someone even after they die. If there are two oracles, they can not ask for the same person, they each must pick a different person.

Substitution
In the event that the host will temporarily be unable to host due to illness, road trip etc., the host can assign a substitute host. It is reccommended that a substitute host be assigned BEFORE the geame begins. Sub hosts have the same power as the host up until the host is able to host again

Guarding
At ANY given time, if someone wishes to do so, they can take the fall for someone whom they believe is being targeted by the wolves. Every now and then, a villager who knows the Oracle(and more importantly trusts him) may make an alliance. In the case that this happens and all wolves have not yet been identified, the villager who has allied can guard the Oracle, meaning if tho wolves or villagers decide to kill the oracle, the villager takes the falls and is killed instead. Basically, if someone is guarded, if they are targeted for kill, thier guard dies instead. It is possible for the person guarding someone to be guarded himself, even by the person he is guarding. The person who wishes to gaurd must tell the host through PM who, if anyone, they are gonna guard, then the host will PM the person being guarded to notify them of who is guarding them. A guard may stop guarding any time they wish. It is not exactly wise to tell anyone that you're guarding someone, because the wolves will suspect you to be guarding an oracle, and villagers may be convinced you were hired by a wolf to guard him. So it must be kept secret that you are guarding someone.

AT THE END

WIN
The game is won when either all wolves are killed or the wolves outnumber the humans.
