If you're trying to engage people in a serious and dramatic story, you're allowed a bit of leeway for adding comedy to the world. The second boss is a guy named Kid Christmas, and he has floating cameras around him so that he can broadcast kicking your a** to the public live. He literally summons a digital wrestling ring to fight you in. It's funny, it's slightly political, and it fits with the world, as bleak and dystopian as it may be.
What doesn't fit with the world is a giant menacing doombot yelling "it's only a flesh wound" when you're blowing its arm off. Why is it quoting Monty Python? Why is it smack talking in the first place? It's a military robot.
Also, remember that "memory rewriting" gimmick they advertised so hard? It's been four episodes out of nine, nearly halfway through the game, and I've only done it once.
