Another movie I saw at a film festival. I've got tickets for more movies, so expect one of these topics every week or so.
As I may have made obvious from my review of Oblivion Island, I am a complete sucker for graphics. Video games, not so much, but in movies, I go absolutely bonkers for a movie that looks pretty. It's basically the sole reason I gave OI such a high rating; it was more of a 3/5 without those godly animations.
That being said, I freaking love this movie with every essence of my being.
The artwork is amazing, that much is a given. But that's not the beauty of the film; that lies in the characters. Each member of the story is like they came from a Celtic fairy tale drawn by the people behind Professor Layton. The villagers, the wild beasts, hell, even the villains shine with their own special artistic flair. And the storyline is actually original, big plus for that. All in all, an amazingly beautiful film, one that was completely worth watching.
I am overjoyed to give this film as high a grade as I can possibly provide, and if you do not find some way to see this movie, I will track you down.
