I would totally destroy time and get at least $10k by going back to when I had $20, back to present, a minute before that, back to present, etc.

So you'd introduce a s*** of bills with the same serial number?

Actually I kind of wonder how long it would take for people to catch on

Like say for instance freeze time during a fight you just know you would lose.
I wouldn't need the time freeze to win. . . I can see in slow-motion. (⌐■_■)

I would freeze everything for at least two years and do a sort-of Hyperbolic Time Chamber training.

I never have much time for my Martial Arts anymore. I can feel my skills diminishing by the day and I would like to get my skill to the point of near perfection so I never have to worry about it again.

But if you went back to take the money from your past self, you wouldn't have kept the money in the future to have it when you stole it from your past self. So at the least, as you stole it from your past self the first bill in your hand would poof away.

there is no way of proving that time travel works like that
in fact it probably wouldn't, the molecules that make up the money would be wherever he brought them no matter what time period he brought them from. the universe doesnt have moderators that go through and make sure timelines make sense and steal stuff away or magic things differently if they dont make sense.

but what i'm suggesting is an absence of a moderating force that we have no reason to believe exists
what you're suggesting is the existence of that force, which means that burden of proof lies with you.

Not really, since we also need a proof for not believing the existence of that moderating force.

we don't default to yes when we're deciding whether or not we believe in something that someone has come up with. there has to be some reason or evidence pointing to something existing before we can be expected to try and prove that it doesn't.
