The H didn't have a strongly pronounced outline in the game model as well, so I decided not to give it one. I thought that an outline may give the upper-head a bit of a cramped feel.

The fire doesn't look like it blends in well with the sprite

Hm, I'm not particular sure what aspect of the fire you mean. For the fire effect, I decided it was a good idea to quickly sketch out how I wanted it (stream, with a slight swoop), then take a quick look at a bunch of reference I had gathered beforehand, and take aspects from that to make a new fire graphic.

And I'm glad you like the sprite, I'm more of a Ghost 'n Goblins guy myself, but that may be because I haven't play Demon's Crest yet.

Probably the color selection used for the fire. Its a bit brighter compared to the character itself so it didn't really felt like it blended in..

Also, I'm also a ghost n goblins fan but I'm far more of a demon crest fan.. It's playstyle is a bit similar to ghost n goblins but it's gonna take time to get used to the flight and wall climbing commands

I can see why you use a stick figure sketch before you draw it all in... It looks very detailed to be honest and I'm quite impressed with how it looks..
