So, I was in a call with esteemed ssf2 dev and resident busterinno Proto as per usual and we somehow came to talk about a theoretical crew battle, after a fairly lengthy and interesting discussion we came to what we think was a definitive, yet not the only answer.

Why am I writing this all down for you, you may ask, well, I want to see what you guys, the general ssf2 community thinks of this 'puzzle' of sorts, as theory and competitive discussion always interest me. If enough people show interest I might make this a weekly thing.

Without further adieu, the puzzle, please provide an explanation in your 'answer':


'every player' refers to every ssf2 player, not just the four presented.

It should be assumed that they know the playstyles of anyone they may be matched against and any counterpick they make will be thought through very well.

I would say kyoz ppstyles rem and zalozis. Since the ZSS vs fox MU is highly in zss favour i put kyoz their since majority of people on the list use fox. I put ppstyles even tho alot of people say fox destroys dk i think its not that bad for dk and his dk is one of the best at the fox MU. I put rem honestly because i think rem is just one of the best players (In his prime) that can go toe to toe with that crew. Zalo i kinda put for the same reason as rem but i also put him their for the fox MU and the marth mu since he also plays marth as well he would do well if they switch to marth. Also his punish game with zelda as we all know is phenomenal and especially on fox RIP so yea thats my pick.

Interesting, how do you think the crew battle would go down, stock-for-stock, assuming they see your team and it's blind pick first player on both sides.

Okay so heres how i think it would go down

Ds (Marth) 8 - 8 Zalozis(Zelda)

Okay so lunary pp styles fairly even Lunary lost 2 stocks PPstlyes lost 4.
Lunary loses his remaining 2 stocks against zalos zelda while zalo only lost 1.
Kylos loses 4 stocks while zalo loses 1 i dont see kylos being that much of a match against zalos zelda considering his punish game on fox.
Ds marth loses no stock while he takes zalos remaining 3 stock alot of zelda mains say marth beats zelda and DS being the marth he is i can see this happening.
Ds marth loses his remaining 4 stocks while rem only loses 2 stocks preety close game
Soldier sunday loses all 4 stocks and rem loses 2 stocks with soldiersundays crew losing rip

This is a very interesting discussion. I feel like being part of the topic, I can't make a statement that sounds unbiased on my own case.

But I will say that an "Good day" SS could beat a Prime-Rem convincingly. I can't see Prime-SS losing to Rem with a two-stock starting lead.

Oooh this sounds like something that could be big.

I don't think any people in the "villain crew" would try to beat Zalo with Fox. Why not get DS's Marth or Lunary's MK/Lloyd?
