If I had to choose one movie as my favorite, I'd say Glory with Matthew Broderick. He played an amazingly realistic Colonel Shaw, revealing the stress and toil that charged men had to endure in that ever-so-stressful period, especially when in command of an entire black regiment. History has always fascinated me and when it is expressed so well, I can't help but give it a standing ovation.

Yeah, I actually saw that in school last year while we were doing our Civil War unit. Loved the movie; although I'm not sure how accurate it was, it certainly did a good job of portraying people in a very realistic fashion. Nobody in that movie was exactly a paragon of virtue.

Exactly what I was thinking. However, while I do enjoy realism, some things are better left fiction. For example, in The Messenger the actor playing Joan portrayed her as a whiny, slightly crazed little girl. This is exactly the opposite of her true character, yet works much better in cinema. We as men like seeing a strong woman brought down by her own erratic emotions, but not so much as to be sexist. Her fully realistic manner, off from the story, is what set that movie apart from others.

I suspect most of you wouldn't have seen my favorite movies but.. here goes..

Image
Dark fairy tale with an ending that will either be seen as saddening or hopeful, depending on how you perceived the events of the movie. Subtle, Symbolic, Gritty.

Image
Love story with a surreal twist.

Image
Makes you as confused as the main character is about its what is going on, then come around and surprise you when it all fits together right at the end.. or beginning, you might say.

Image
Made me want to jump off a bridge. It will turn you emo for a day.

Twist twist twist twist twist.

For me, either Clerks 2 (lolol) or The Usual Suspects.
I don't see too many movies.
A Clockwork Orange was cool too.

My favorite movie is Spaceballs, it's a weird (but funny) spoof of Star Wars...

The Devil's Advocate is good. I think Hakkar would love it.
