I didn't mean for it to sound like an OC, I just thought it might be an interesting idea... I mean, Sandbag never had the ability to Bob-Omb recovery, "Wave Dodge", nor Aerial Grab... Capsules are forgivable... I guess...

On the note of characters... I had this random idea a few months ago of Spongebob being playable... I mean, I was playing Revenge of the Flying Dutchman on my GBA emulator... I also remembered the nicktoons games... I had one on my old DS... Spongebob can also have a unique moveset... But the game would probably get 50% more flak than it already has if we add another 4th party char and that 4th party char is Spongebob...

The Bob-Omb and Capsule are references to how he's a Container-class item in Brawl and Smash 4; he drops items if you keep hitting him. In other words, those are canonical abilities of his. (Possibly his only canonical abilities.)

I imagine Aerial Grab is a reference to the way he's usually seen; flying up and horizontally. (After getting hit with a home-run bat.)
And his "Wave Dodge", if you ask me, is a blatantly obvious reference to his debuting in Melee; it mimics the original Air Dodge that was present there. But unlike the Capsule/Bob-Omb, I admit those are more speculation/assumption.

Funny thing about Spongebob; back in the early days, back when we still thought the game would be out by Summer 2009 (hilarious, right?), people actually were going to make him into an expansion character, and they put him on the old wiki.
Viacom freaked out and sent a cease-and-desist, forcing the wiki to delete the page.

(I love telling that story. Viacom is a freaking lunatic.)

Speaking of expansion characters, if NES Mario doesn't get his time to shine in SSF2's full release, someone get on that please
Either that or he'll be an official Expansion Character made by the Dev Team as quote-unquote "DLC"
I have a soft spot for NES/Gameboy Sprites (Maybe it's just the small 16x16 sprites that are simplistic and cutesy that seal the deal, but IDK) so NES Mario returning would be cool since he was cut once SSF2 got it's roster revamp way back when :chibirobo:
(Infact I kinda wanna make an NES Kirby to match if that does happen since Kirby da bess)

Although his chances are most likely very low, I would be super hyped to see Megaman Volnutt in SSF2.

I'm normally not one to say things like this, but if the Multi-Man Smash enemies are clones/simple edits/pallette swaps of the normal characters, I would love it if they were to be selectable as a single icon, as an Edgemaster/Charade/Mokujin-type character, randomizing with every KO.

Normally a character like that wouldn't be possible/feasible in a sprite-based game due to the sheer amount of animations involved, but if it were something like that, I could see it working, and I love using those types of characters. But the closest I can get is choosing Random in All-Star Versus in PM.

Random thought, instead of "simple edits" and all that, how about the regular character sprite with a lot more Black "Overlay" or whatever you call that, so they appear to be "Dark Versions" of the cast...

If possible, add an aura to them. Preferably Black, Purple, or Dark Red...

Also, maybe some modifications to their movesets? I mean, BBM's Bombs would be useless once he switches, unless they explode upon Death or something... Kirby style Neutral-B? and Unique specials? Maybe a "Transform" or "Reformat" or (keeping in theme with the Sprite-based game +pun bonus) "Resprite" (LOL) as a D-spec where they "change" to another character... with some technology+magic effects and all that... or something...

Honestly I would like if the fighting team characters were something primitive.

Looking at the first two fighting team polygon and wireframe, it would be neat to have something to reflect the characters in a more primal sense. Because the polygon team was basically Nintendo saying "Look, we can manipulate polygons" and wireframe was saying "Look, we can have high detailed models".

I feel that since SSF2 is a sprite based game just for the kicks of it if the fighting team was a low resolution version of the characters possibly darker to facilitate differentiating between player and fighting sprite.

Also...

Looking at the new sonic trailer I see that when sonic becomes super sonic he appears to be floating most likely meaning that his final smash changed from SSF2 0.9b to Brawl's and Sm4sh's final smash.

Probably. The disadvantage of respriting is that final forms become unfeasible.

I'm still sour about Mario's resprite for just that reason.

Tbh, Fire Mario really wasn't that good honestly. It just felt like a rushed SMBZ fanfiction to me. And the only moves I pretty much used where the Hammer, Firework and Fire Orb ones (Fire Orb being his Final Smash, I know it's called Mario Finale, but it's so similar to the Fire Orb moves from SMRPG I can't help it :chibirobo: )

I kinda hope Super Sonic is still a Final Form as his Final Smash in the mainline Smash Bros games was essentially just a much better version of Pikachu's, but if it does gets changed I wouldn't really complain either.
Though if that's the case I hope regular Sonic's new F-Air when sweet spotted makes that sound effect Super Sonic's F-Air does when it hits, if you know what I'm talking about.

At this point it seems that Final Forms are now anime character exclusives, which makes me wonder whether Bankai Ichigo will be resprited to fit his regular form or will he end up getting a Final Smash (e.g Mugetsu). Naruto and Goku will probably keep theirs since their Final Forms really only need some touch ups. I also wonder about Wario Man's fate.

I just hope Wario Man doesn't get replaced with Super Wario Waft, as was the pre-retool plan.

How many additional characters do you guys think is realistic for the Final version of SSF2?

Also do you think their might be additional characters in Beta?

I'd say we'll get 3 more characters.

In the Beta or the Full-Game?

I can't imagine there only being 3 new characters in the final game. I figured the final roster count would be something like 50.

Additional Characters in BETA: Nope

Realistic for the Final Version:
Currently 38 Characters in BETA (Including Sandbag)
Everyone in the full version is 100% going to be unlockable (Since when they posted the tweet of BETA's roster they said it's "The Starting Roster of SSF2" and them not saying "BETA" gives it away)
2 + 2 = Fish when flipped sideways
My guess is 47 characters (3 rows of 16, #48 being Random) with 3 Official (Made by the SSF2 Devs) Expansion/XP Characters making the roster bump up to 50 characters (With #51 being Random) for 3 rows of 17
soooo
Starters: 37 (Everyone currently in BETA but Sandbag)
Unlockables: 10 (Sandbag + 9 others)
Official Expansion Characters: 3
SSF1-Exclusive Character: Mr. Incredible (#51)
That's my dumb guess
50 is the magic number
Woo :chibirobo:

Yeah, i'd think 50 is a tad bit wishful thinking and I should probably temper my expectations though given the amount of characters we had so far I don't think it's stretching it too much. IDK if expansions are defiantly going to happen so i'd say 50 for the full game itself.

Whatever the final roster count is I just hope Andy makes it in somehow. Smash Bros isn't going to show him any love so maybe he'll have better luck in SSF2.

I'd love Jill Dozer to be playable.
Would be neat to use a Elementary Schoolgirl using a Drill Powered Mini-Mecha. Her source game also has a pretty good number of viable moves for a Smash Bros moveset. I can't help it, I just love that game.
That'd be neat :chibirobo:
