Well, now, this is interesting. You normally don't see really rich people in positions of power do either of these things:

A) Decide to take a 50% pay cut

B) Publicly admit that they screwed up -- royally.

Whether you love Nintendo or not, there is something admirable about what Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said at a shareholders meeting. The 3DS price cut caused Nintendo stock to drop like a stone, at least temporarily, and Nintendo has since stated that they will sell the 3DS at a LOSS. That's...pretty big news no matter how you slice it.

"I am aware that realizing both the short-term and the mid-to-long term profits is one of my responsibilities as part of the management. I feel greatly accountable for having to make the markdown shortly after the launch, for having damaged our consumers' trust, for having made a significant impact upon the financial forecasts, for the annual dividend now being expected to be significantly less than originally expected and for now forecasting that there will be no interim dividend."

The result is a self imposed 50% pay cut while "Representative directors" will see salaries cut by 30%.

I doubt the guy is going to hit the bread lines but a 50% cut is a crazy amount of money. Some pretty drastic stuff going on at Nintendo

all of which you've probably already played and could easily play on a PSP or PC

They have a relatively large selection of retros to choose from. And not only that, but I think it's nice having your favorite retro games portable wherever you go.
