It's no secret that this is a pretty small scene. So let's discuss ways to make it bigger.

Beta.

Besides Beta of course, it'd be nice if we had a channel like GRSmash which made top 10 videos. Or an official tournament channel like VGBootCamp.

AxeEnding999 used to do the latter sort of thing. I dunno if he still does.

more short gfycat type things on reddit. combo vids are too long to keep people interested unless they're f*** amazing.

if u wanna get the updoots, just make like a 10 second gfy of a really sick combo or something, then people will be like "oh thats cool" and upvote it.
the old "character tech" series that we had on reddit was pretty cool too where people showed off a character's unique ssf2 tech with gfys and explanations n s***.

also people need to start doing sicker stuff. like if we had a minute long "tourney highlights" for each tourney with people doing actual cool stuff in them that would be nice.

In the spirit of being a good sport, maybe we should focus more on "what do we do to attract more players when beta's launched?"

It might be hard to do this without knowing a release date, but it might be worth planning out things to do when beta drops.

If someone records the Beta Footage for Smash Con, someone could compile all of the combos into multiple 5min videos released every week. All we'd have to do is spread them around like wild fire, we're good at that!

stop perpetuating the mindset that everything that brings in new players or has more than a few people in it is not 'chill' or 'cool'

And I think waiting until Beta is a little bit of a cop-out. It may not be releasing for another six months, and while we wait for that, things stagnate some more.

Besides, attracting more players for v0.9b will get more people excited for Beta, and the excitement leading up to it will make word of mouth spread faster than Beta would on its own.

We could start posting links to the dev blogs in other places. Now that I think about it, it's been 2yrs since v0.9b came out, and it could be longer for the full game to come out after beta. So it would be smarter to advertise beta before it realeases.
