it was still the full roster imo. why would the esrb have been shown an incomplete roster screen? all that the lock icon being there means is that the screenshots and footage were taken at varying stages in the game's save file. the trophy count was inconsistent in those screenshots as well.

While that seems possible, take another look at the imgur album. All the screenshots show the user has 686 trophies, it's not inconsistent at all (Barbara is /11 because it's the list of trophies the player has just obtained)

My bad, the 11 stuck in my brain for some reason even though it's clearly not the overall trophy count. I'd still be very surprised though, it doesn't make sense for Nintendo to say yep include shulk, duck hunt and bowser jr, but don't include ridley or ice climbers because they're way too secret to show

I dunno, the whole thing is very odd. The ESRB doesn't HAVE to see all the content in the game, just the potentially objectionable stuff. I guess if they included a character like Nemesis or Bayonetta they would have to show them, but they wouldn't necessarily have to include others. But you're right that they don't have any reason not to, or to specifically include the characters they did over others. It's an odd situation.

Okay, I'm confused. First he says you can challenge every fighter from the moment you turn on the game, then he says you can't challenge every fighter until you've unlocked them all.

From the start you can play the mode to challenge every fighter you have unlocked thus far. You can't play the complete mode untill you have unlocked all fighters (meaning that if you finish the mode without having all the characters will probabaly not result in your getting the final smash trophy of the character you play as*)



*assuming those are still the rewards for finishing all star, of course.
