Yes. Months ago. Right when they changed the rest of the world into TBA. It was released in Japan around August or something. The 'reason' it's been delayed is because they pulled a Rockstar/FF Realm Reborn/every other online thing and waaaaaay underestimated the number of people who were getting on and needed more server space. I say 'reason' because that was, again, months ago, and we haven't heard anything since. Regardless, I've seen videos on Youtube were people are using it, and it works fine. It's the JP version, though, and I so far haven't seen a translated one in motion, even just checking while typing this. No information has been released other than 'It's coming' for a while now. Needless to say, I am REALLY butthurt about this. I loved the original Flipnote and had a whole sentimental thing when it shut down. TLDR; Japan has it, and nobody else does, and there is no info on when we will.

On the topic of Swapnote, I'm really pissed off about what they've done. It was my only form of contact with a lot of my old internet friends who didn't want to give out their e-mail address. Not to mention that I liked seeing the promotional messages pop up.
And you know what else? They have the balls to have it still be available in the eShop, with Nikki proudly displayed on the banner of the "Applications" category. They're trying to advertise something that's absolutely unusable now.

Not going to justify Nintendo's decision here, but if they're actually your old friends then they should be ok with giving you some sort of way to contact them other than swapnote.
And they still have it available because the app still exists. Pretty much everyone agrees that it's been gutted in a dumb way but complaining that it's still available is stupid.

how did you contact them before swap note came out? how old can they be if you've only been able to message them on a service that's barely existed a year??
and it still shows up on the shop because you can still download it. the street pass note sending still works fine you just can't send notes online. My group of IRL friends actually gets quite a bit of fun out of sending random s*** to each other via streetpass

I contacted them before on a forum that I've long been banned from - I was a teenager back then. Then I got their friend codes on deviantART, a site that I'd really rather stay away from for the most part.

The 3ds has been my favorite system for a while, theres so many good games available for it, they're burning a hole in my wallet.
Zelda looks fantastic, of course.
And i'm actually looking forward to Mario Party, too, especially after the tragedy that was Mario Party 9.
Bravely Default looks promising too.

Yeah it looked really neat. I quite liked the character designs. However, the battle system didn't really convince me to buy it. Especially since this looks like it might just be 'yet another Square RPG'. Unless it has a unique storyline (read 'not final fantasy') I think I'll look more into it.

What does any of this post even mean It's a throwback Square RPG with a twist in the form of the Brave and Default systems. Did you even research the battle system? There hasn't been anything quite like this system since maybe FFVIII, and even then the draw system was much different. And every Final Fantasy story has a unique storyline from each other for the most part. "I want a unique storyline but not a final fantasy unique storyline"??? Is that what you're saying because if it is that's silly considering how varied all of the stories are.
