They will not.

Nintendo has stated they are dropping GameCube support entirely.
If you have proof of otherwise, by all means, PM me about it. I'm serious; being proved wrong here would NOT bug me. I love gamecube controllers.

You're only supposed to hold the right and midde parts.

Next-Gen games will require you to use the Joystick and the Directional Pad at the same time.
It's not impossible, but it'd be a bit unwieldy.

Oh I'll give the Wii U controller a try. I'm just saying that I might stick with WiiMote + Nunchuck setting in case the Wii U controller doesn't work out simply because that's what I adapted to using in Brawl, and I seriously doubt they would make major changes to the overall control layout.
