I'd personally rather have a Pushmo stage. Seems like there's a lot of cool places they can go with that.

sigurd from fire emblem 4 should be an assist trophy
and when he exits the stage, he gets hit by a meteor and disintegrates instead of the usual "POOF I'M GONE"

Meta Knight (Kirby) [If they have King Dedede, they'll have Meta Knight. Plus, the Halberd returns as a stage]
Falco (Star Fox) [I just don't see them cutting him over Wolf, sadly]
Jigglypuff (Pokemon) [Original 12, probably will be secret like it is in every game, also is Fairy Type now, great way to promote Fairy Type]
Mr. Game and Watch (Game And Watch) [In the Pac-Man trailer he is there, probably will be secret so he's not revealed yet]
Ness (Earthbound/Mother) [Original 12, plus Mr. Saturn returns as an item, probably will be secret]
Wario (Warioware/Wario Land) [Ashley confirms him]

However, this is not what I think would be the smart choice. This is my choice:

Dr. Luigi (Mario) [Great way to promote Dr. Luigi, plus, we had Dr. Mario. Since it was The Year Of Luigi, how about Luigi instead?]

The reason the Ice Climbers are not on either list is because Nintendo probably won't be able to program their style of fighting in the 3DS version. If they can, they would be on both list.

you can't determine who will be or won't be overpowered. remember when everyone said Ike was OP? i once saw a video where a guy had problems with ike and said he needed to be nerfed but then said meta knight is fine

Care to explain why you think people that program games for a living won't be able to program a character on the 3DS that they could on the Gamecube? I'm pretty sure they can program an AI that matches your moves move for move if the can program AI that can do things such as, fight independently of a player at all.

If they can program a character like Rosalina or Olimar on the 3DS, then I'm pretty sure they'd be able to program the Ice Climbers as well

It was started because in an interview Sakurai said that "It was becoming a challenge to program characters like the Ice Climbers on the 3DS."
