I lowkey want Jack Frost from the SMT series as a playable character
He's cute, has cool ice powers and would make SMT more well known in the West, similar to how Marth's inclusion in Melee popularized Fire Emblem outside of Japan

Personally, I was thinking one of the latest 3 mains (Minato, Yu, or Akira), as their Wild Card ability would allow elemental play akin to Sora, but mapped to each attack. Akira could be created as a long ranged fighter (His Neutral B could be him firing his gun up to 3 times before reloading, though i know his usual clip is 6) with only a short ranged but fast paced neutral game (Using his knife, as he doesn't ever use a larger weapon, but moves hella fast with it), Yu could be slow but hard hitting (as a broadsword is, though he has been shown moving very fast in P4A(U)) with Izanagi (No Okami) making up his range with moves like (Ma)Zio/Zionga/Ziodyne. It could even work sort of like Robin in Sm4sh, where he has an innate SP bar that limits how much Magic he can use. N-B can be Cross Slash, done like in P4A with the two strikes. Side B can be Zio(nga)(dyne), which works like Thoron from Robin. As for Minato, he can be a fast but weak fighter, using fencing swords and Thanatos for range. Think of them as long, close, and mid range, respectively. I dunno, just a thought, but it might be interesting?

I too would actually prefer a protagonist that summons demons/Personas to do a variety of moves, but they can't be from a Persona game unfortunately as the Persona series are Sony platform exclusives
I was thinking a protagonist from the mainstream SMT series instead, such as Aleph or Flynn, as most of those games are on Nintendo platforms. Most of those ideas you listed above can also be applied to a SMT protagonist as everything functions pretty much the same between the two subseries

Actually, Persona is NOT Sony exclusive. Persona Q (and the upcoming PQ2) was (will be) released on the 3/2DS, so they HAVE had Nintendo appearances. (and, if we are splitting hairs here, we also have Persona 4 Arena(ultimax) on Xbox and PC) Granted, they are MOSTLY Sony games, but are not Sony EXCLUSIVE. (Though that does remove Joker from the list, which is a real shame, since I thought he was the coolest protagonist. One of his taunts or victory animations could have Mona shouting "Looking cool, Joker!")

^Oh yeaaahhhh I forgot about Persona Q lol. And yeah I knew the Arena games were multiplatform, I was just making a general statement
Also I'm quite confident that Joker will appear in Q2, so if he does he's still viable for SSF2

Hey, if Gooey was added to SSF2, do any of you think the devs would him his ability to fly? SSB Crusade doesn't seem to do that (for some reason).
