And Dragon Quest's Slime. Considering I don't know much about the Golden Sun series so, I can't speculate much about his moveset aside from the "Move" Attack from when he was an Assist Trophy in Brawl.

Stat wise, Issac had the best attack growth of all the party members in Golden Sun. He also had pretty good HP. Realistically I think he'd be a semi heavy combo of Marth and Ness. Having a small array of magic while mainly focusing on raw attack. But he also had a decent speed stat, so maybe the instead of being heavy he'll have good recovery. I mean the guy could move things with his mind and kill ghosts with swords, If we only have his stats in his game to go off then he's a bit of a wild ball. Speculating is fun but I honestly thing he'll be as much of a surprise as black mage was when we got him as an accidental 'Challenger Approaching'. Making a character from a turn based RPG into a Smash Bros character puts them through quite a few changes.

Sorry I wasn't clear with that, By accidental I mean that when I actually got to fighting him it was a really big surprise, I had no idea he'd be in the game (Back then I didn't browse the forums as much). I was really pleased with how well they turned a magic orientated character from a turn based RPG into a Smash Bros character. Issac is from that genre too, so its a similar pleasant surprise kind of feel.

PREPARE FOR A WALL OF TEXT I'm really happy that there are other people who are hyped for a magic swordsman, as improved as Sora is now I'll always have a soft spot for down specialmagic cycling. One other thing that baffles me is that if Issac is a magic swordsman, the trailer could have had him use ANY of his famous or well known Psy-Energy moves (like Move or Ragnarok), But instead they go for the healing spell cure. It would be near impossible to give Issac a healing skill as ANY of his moves (Besides final smash), and still be a balanced character to fight as or against. Another thing I noticed is the pun in his intro "Issac Stands His GROUND." Issac is a Venus Psy-Energy adept, meaning he can manipulate earth. If this were to be used in a fighting game like smash, Magic like Quake, Growth, Spire, Rockfall ect. would most likely function as attacks with hotboxes not connected to Issac, Attacks like that would severely impact and limit his close range options, for example, Look at how many people can effectively use Soras down special (thunder) In a match, not many. when it comes to magic people stick with the Ice attacks for effective zoning that complements his physical attacks because of the hit boxes are joined to the character. Ness has the same problem with separate hitboxes with PK-Flash (which really no one uses for anything other than scare zoning), and PK-Thunder (Which is only used for recovery due to insane amounts of predicability). PK fire is useful because of the guard break and quick casting time but not all attacks can be like that, especially with Issac. What i'm trying to say is that I find it hard to imagine a character who skillfully combines useful (and unbroken) magic with competent swordplay, that isn't going to be a Sora re skin. I know that Issac is going to be a completely different character but with so much of the information annoyingly (but rightfully) vague I couldn't think of a decent moveset for the life of me. Of course my earlier post of him being a summoner-esk character is what I hope for, Its not going to happen because its a ridiculous moveset, and im the biggest sucker in the world when it comes to magic in RPGS. PHEW that's alot to read isn't it?

Well for one healing moves dont make a character broken. Wii Fit trainer aint broken. Neither is PM Ivysaur.
As for the Ness thing PK thunder can be canceled so its actually a very useful projectile, and PK Flash is really good for edgeguards if your timing is right, its basically a projectile Falcon Punch
Seeing as Isaac is an Earth guy, it would stand to reason that he would have a pretty bad air game huh? Sounds like it could be pretty interesting.

You make a really good point. do you think bad air game would equal bad recovery? that would make him pretty different to sora and his amazing air combos and recovery. Issac has a teleport spell, even though a few other characters have a similar move, I think it could work even with bad air game. I had forgotten about Smash4 and I feel incredibly stupid because Shulk is a perfect example of what Djinn switching could be. In the Golden sun games a character could combine spirits called Djinns, this would give them different stats, spells and classes. I feel like that could work similar to how the Monardo arts work. Mercury/Water Djinns could have something to do with his healing and magic attacks while sacrificing psychical attack power . Mars/Fire could give him greater attack at the cost of weaker magic. Earth/Venus could give him greater Deference at the cost of bad air game. And Saturn/Air could give him better air game but a further knockback. I think that would work really well. Being useful, tactical, using all the parts of his game, being fun to use, and so much more. You had some really good counterpoints thank you for that, I learned a lot!
