What is it with humans and our stupid obsessions with the world ending?
For those of you who don't know, the Mayans met some nice visitors near the end of their lives. They were the Spanish. You know, the ones who went to war with them and the other two empires over their stupid "god"? The ones that KILLED ALMOST ALL OF THEM. That's why the calendar stops. It has nothing to do with the world ending. It's not going to happen. _________________  |

Except that plenty of other civilizations also end their calender on the same day. Although I don't believe the world will 'end'. There is an astronomical event happening on that day (Alignment of the Sun, Earth, and the Center of the Milky Way), but it's nothing major. I'm guessing those ancient civilizations saw that alignment as a sign, even though it doesn't mean much in the end. Although theoretically, that alignment could have an effect such as pole shifting or climate changes (For all we know, it could be the cause of Global Warming). _________________ 3DS FC: 5026-4428-6076 |
