So, my 3DS just broke today. Would it be better to mail it off to Nintendo to have it repaired, or should I try and find someone online?
The year-long warranty expired already, for the record.

When I turn it on, the screen never goes to the menu, it just stays black. It'll change when I hit the power off button, it goes to the "turn off" screen, but if I go to menu from there, it just stays on that transition screen and never goes to the menu.

dude that sounds like a brick; did you do anything that might've bricked your 3DS? i heard there's a button combo you can use to update as you power on, but i don't remember it. you should look up 3DS brick options on google just in case, so you don't unnecessarily waste money

they charge you 90 dollars, or so said the guy i talked to during the last time i called
they fix it, and give you another 1 year warranty

Wait.
What if 3DS's are programmed to intentionally break after a specific time period, different for every 3DS so people won't suspect anything?
it would be a pretty intelligent money cycle.
