Well, as far as I know, there's nothing on a Lloyd resprite. I told the peeps on the McLeodGaming wiki on my Black Mage resprite idea, but I haven't got a response from the moderators yet.

Because everyone thinks Black Mage has a nice sprite right now and no, if you don't remember So he's gonna be buffed (i hope), aight you're want a resprite, i just say please be patient.

Even if Black Mage got a visual redesign, it ought to be of a design that actually resembles the traditional FF Black Mage

Uh, what you posted isn't a traditional Black Mage, it's his redesign from the FFVII era forwards.
And considering how SSF2 is a purely 2d game, I don't think updating his design to be more accurate to certain incarnations (most resprite suggestions opt for the FFVII era forwards one or the Mario Sports Mix one) is exactly worth it, given this is still a cartoony looking character at his core, specially given how inconsistent his design is.



That said, if Black Mage got a redesign along with a resprite, I think it could use an original design to fit in with Smash, kinda like how Sheik's design post Melee have been reimaginings based on either concept art (Brawl/SSB4) or to fit the overall design of a certain Zelda game (Ultimate with Botw). Other more minor examples could be how Meta Knight got a lot more detail in his armor in Brawl and Smash 4 (mainly the gauntlets, which became a part of his design in Smash 4) or Simon Belmont combining several design traits from his different incarnations across games in Ultimate.

If Black Mage were ever to get something like this, I think a redesign using the basic shape of the FF1 design that SSF2 uses, but combining some design traits from the other designs (more detailed robes, maybe the white things around the gloves from the FFIX design, visible pants in some shots or stuff could be a good compromise.


TL:DR : If Black Mage gets a redesign along a resprite, I think it's better to give him a more universal design instead of a specific one based on only one incarnation. Sorry for going a ramble

thats kinda what i was trying to say, try and make him unique, as long as he retains the general proportions and spirit of the classic black mage. not that slender creep that psychossf2 keeps recommending
