I hate buying gifts for people. If I happen to ask them what they want they always say something ridiculous, like a CD or a movie that's absolutely terrible and reminds me that people have terrible taste because it isn't something I like. If they happen to be joking then I'd get something completely wrong and feel like a dick and then I was caught dead buying said gift to begin with and my image couldn't suffer more man. If I get them money then it feels like a cop out or I'm too lazy to be creative.
Needless to say I always give money now because I am too lazy to be creative and it is a cop out.

I don't like buying gift to people tbh. I'm a very caring person so if you ever do something nice to people or to me, I might end up giving you 100 bucks. I don't like asking stuffs in general for that same reason. If someone is offering me something, I'll ask around 10 times if they're sure about it then I found myself obligated to accept out of respect but at the same time I feel like I should give them something in return...
Have you seen the movie "Pay It Forward"? I think that movie made me the person I am today to be honest. I wish I could be selfish sometimes, I guess that won't happen. No wait... I'm actually extremely selfish with my little sister lol
