DON'T READ UNTIL YOU'VE WATCHED EPISODE 11
I am at episode 12 right now, I just recently watched Haruhi and Yuki playing in a band as a filler. THAT WAS FRIGGIN' SICK! Seriously, I never knew Yuki had it in her. She played it like crazy, no not crazy, INSANE! That was one of the most badass, hardcore guitar solos I've ever heard in my life!
And Haruhi is a good singer too.

Graphic Novel = comic
Light novel = ...novel, nothing but words
I dl them all, havent finish reading though.
i watched the Anime in order of events not episode (they skip around...)
best episode imo was the one when they were playing the interned scifi battleship-like game against the computer club, yuki and Koizumi was amazing on that ep. I have everyone but haruhi on my mugen :p

A manga is a comic of just dialogue and pictures, a light novel is an actual book, but with more pictures an ordinary book would have.

Let's not get caught up in semantics. A manga, is more or less, a comic and thus I fail to see where manga could be interpreted as novel without stretching things. Additionally, with the word "not" in my previous statement, you'd think I don't see them as equivalent.
Season 2 is not animated by KyoAni, it may suck.
