Needs transparent pixels between the ear and the shoulder. That's what's causing the chubbyness.
The hat is currently shaded like tilted cylinder as opposed to a half sphere. Make a small circle of highlight in topish leftish, then progressive, larger circles of darker tones.

Jaggy on top left of HIS right shoe.

Great start, needs cleaning up.

If you were to put a space between the shoulder and the ear, that would make the ear too small, but I've already been working on making him look slightly less chubby, and the hat is still being worked on a little.

But I don't understand what you mean about the shoe.

So, I have been changing some things, and some other things, and all manner of other things, while trying to do animations. Which is proving to be annoying. I have a few frames of ear movement. I updated the main sprite to show some changes, which are still fairly WIP.

Also, as a show of some head-rotation-animation, I have this. Keep in mind that I currently don't have an animating program, and I know that this looks bad, because it's exported from Flash, and the colours are ruined, but you sort of get the idea. It's nowhere near done, but I felt that I should show it, so far.

I'm still pretty awful at animating, but this is my first attempt at animating sprites, ever, so I have a ways to go.

Not bad.

Must've slipped over that.

@the animation: it's kind of odd that the ears don't move while the head does.

Yes, it's still quite a work in progress, I plan to make the ears move with the head at some point.

The animation is really good, really gives it a 3D feel. The sprite is awesome as well. Great job!
