Oh what match wasn't streamed and what was the reason behind it not being streamed?

The entire top 8 wasn't streamed because of my rqing the event and cutting the stream off.
iirc it was Sekanor v. Jammy

Replays exist for all of top 8 so it's only a matter of recording them.

Also have to do this giant a** spreadsheet

So what I am getting from you said is that you raged, cut off the stream and when you told us about it it sounded like you were blaming the players.

Please correct me if I am misunderstanding the situation.

Sekanor and Kyoz played out their top 8 match while Doq was preparing the stream. Doq got pissy and shut down the stream. That's all there is to it.

That being said, if you're gonna try to stream and play SSF2 on an old laptop with meh internet connection, you're gonna have a bad time.

Okay, that's what I was getting from him saying what happened.

I am very glad for the great success of Smash Island X and I personally congratulate Lunary for yet another win. However there was one glaring flaw that I cannot stand, and I am pretty sure people will run away from X when I finish this post.

The ignorance of players is really high in tournaments. Normally I would not care as a TO, but because of this ignorance at this event, one of the rules that sets X apart from Hypest and Smash Island was violated and it caused me to stop streaming the event entirely. I designed X to not only be a ranked style of event, but an event for the viewers. Smash Island X was on the front page of Smashboards but I could not deliver because of the X rule being violated and I decided to cut the stream because of it. It seems I need to be a little harder on players. Violation of the X rule originally led to overruling the set count and disqualifying the initiator, but I rarely enforced it because of it's difficulty. Instead, I have decided:

Any violation of the X Rule will result in a ban from all X tournaments throughout the rest of the annual period (rest of the year). Violation of the X Rule during X13 (December X) or the X Annual will result in a ban for the following year.
Alongside this, all of your rankings for the year will be completely wiped from all sheets.
This rule will only apply to monthlies (numbered X tournaments) and annuals. Qualifiers and other scored tournaments will still run under their own rules.

We got on the front page of Smashboards and we failed them. Maybe this will knock some sense into players.

Him posting this made me think someone else messed up.

Very incorrect. I have been ready for a while before top 8 started and even explicitly said on multiple occasions to not start.

It also hasn't been just this one, it has been every X monthly ever.

I just want a normal stream. Without a stream I have no place in this community. #GimRdoq
Is that too much to ask? Is it really?

(btw, it was Sekanor and Jammy)

2008 isn't that old. Yeah it's not Alienware but it gets the job done. Not my fault Big Box died.

Also I run enterprise-grade web servers on my internet and you say it's meh. :P But, that's none of my business.

my stance on this:

I didn't even know that the 'all top 8 must be streamed' rule existed. I also didn't realise that doqk was telling us the whole time about it. my bad, should have been paying more attention.

however, if the stream is going to overly affect the game being played (in terms of lag) then it shouldn't be streamed. if you're going to stream doqk, make sure you're on your big a** server/computer and not a laptop - that's gonna be detrimental to both viewers and players.
players aren't gonna play as well as usual.
people are gonna come and watch the stream and think "wow ssf2 is this laggy? the top players aren't even good either".

TL;DR: ensure all players are cognizant of the rules before the tourney starts, only stream if it's not gonna lag.

That is what the Kyoz-Lunary Addendum is for. If for some crazy out of this world reason a set can't be streamed then so be it but save replays or I delete your ssf2. (kappa)

Also, I think it turned out to be a good thing that the top 8 wasn't streamed. It turns out I was having company over at around 18:30-ish and the tournament ended just in time. Otherwise, I may have had to drop out and not TO for the rest of the event.

Speaking of SIX, scores are posted for XSSv3. XSSv2.1 scores will update soon.

How about you do it during a day of the week? It should be ok since we're on holidays.
