I didn't imply that he was. Although, some if not a lot of players use Kaio-Ken as a last-ditch resort to win a clutch match though, and with some pretty good results if they know what they're doing.

That's pretty much Goku's canon fighting style. Using a sudden transformation when he's already beaten down to get a last-minute power boost.

Think about it. In chronological order: Great Ape. Ultra Divine Water. Kaio-Ken. Kaio-Ken x4. Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan God. Not to mention the whole concept of zenkai. And I'm pretty sure I'm missing several. All of those served to give Goku a sudden power boost right when he was most desperate. That power boost is always all at once. It doesn't gradually build up like Lucario.

And in SSF2, said transformation is Kaio-Ken instead of Super Saiyan because... well, there's gotta be drawbacks for balancing's sake.

That's actually pretty insightful and makes a lot of sense! But the true challenge is how do we translate that into a Smash Bros. game without having someone abuse Kaio-Ken and destroying the competitive balance in the process? Maybe if Kaio-Ken was more like a Smash taunt that Goku could trigger when he's at 100%+ and we could change his down-b into something else? I'd say preferably Solar Flare, because having it as a down-throw to attack opponents makes no sense, because in source material, it blinds or stuns the opponent so the user can make an escape or disorient the attacker.

don't do this.

- In the source material, Pikachu's neutral special, Thunder Jolt, doesn't exist.
- In the source material, Pikachu's up special, Quick Attack, only hits once, and it looks nothing like in Smash Bros when its used in the anime.
- In the source material, Pikachu's final smash, Volt Tackle, is completely different. It's literally a tackle infused with electricity.
- In the source material, Ness's neutral special, PK Flash, doesn't do damage. It either instantly KOs, or causes status ailments.
- In the source material, Ness's side special, PK Fire, can't be learned by him. Only Paula can use it. It also doesn't hit multiple times.
- In the source material, Ness's down special, PSI Magnet, doesn't absorb attacks or heal HP. It drains PSI points from opponents. Also, only Paula can use it.
- In the source material, Ness's attacks have a chance of critical hit. They don't in Smash.
- In the source material, Ness can't learn PK Starstorm, only Poo can.
- In the source material, Lucas's PK Freeze doesn't freeze all of the time. In fact, it usually doesn't.
- In the source material, Lucas can't learn any of his Smash Bros. special attacks. In Mother 3, you cannot be taught PSI unless you get a "strange fever". However, Brawl explains that Lucas learns his Smash Bros. special attacks from being "taught by Kumatora".
- In the source material, Mario can't use fireballs without a fire flower.
- In the source material, Sheik's special moves never existed.
- In the source material, Captain Falcon's special moves (other than neutral special) never existed.
- In the source material, Samus can stay in down special forever and roll around and drop multiple bombs.
- In the source material, Link can't jump unless he gets to the end of a platform.
- In the source material, Jigglypuff's down special, Rest, doesn't do damage at all. In fact, it heals Jigglypuff.
- In the source material, Jigglypuff's neutral special, Rollout, doesn't hit once, it hits multiple times in growing strength.
- In the source material, Jigglypuff's up special, Sing, doesn't hit 3 times, it hits once.
- In the source material, Pokemon in general don't have attacks like the ones used in Smash Bros, they stick to actual MOVES from the game.
- In the source material, Bomberman's bombs explode in a + pattern.
- In the source material, Bomberman's bombs explode automatically unless you have a powerup.
- In the source material, Bomberman doesn't physically attack.
- In the source material, Bowser isn't known to grab people and flip off of stages in a sort of suicidal kamikaze wrestling move.
- In the source material, Kirby's powers are limited to categories.
- In the source material, Sandbag can't do anything.

Some of the best things about Smash Bros. both official and unofficial come from taking creative liberties. You look to canon for ideas not for guidelines.

To be honest, Goku's moveset is already really good, just needs some tweaking here and there
Hell, maybe even make Solar Flare have more hitstun so it becomes more like a combo starter... although that could give Goku 2 broken throws

The only thing I want from Goku is nerfs, he's virtually unpunishable, his Up-B is an excellent movement option even on stage and great for landing or escaping air combos, all his moves are fast and hit hard, not to mention he is a combo king. Fox at least still requires some skill. I don't mid Fox being good because he takes a lot of practice to use right, Goku is just easy.

I don't know, I just thought that was a bit excessive for an explanation. But I guess he's like that all the time. lol

Goku's fine the way he is lmao
Some cosmetic changes would be nice, but no need to change how he plays

Though I get your point, there are some "lies" there.

I think "innacuracy" is a better term because I doubt tson would intentionally say something wrong in this context

Yeah.
• Thunder Jolt's from the trading card game.
• Sheik does have Vanish, as Jan mentioned.
• Kirby's powers used to be exact copies of the single-attack enemies that used them back in Kirby's Adventure, like they are in Smash. However, that concept just kinda got bastardized in Super Star.
• Falcon Punch is only mentioned in the anime (as Jan mentioned) and Mario Kart 8.

Meanwhile, there's also some you missed;
• None of Fox or Falco's special moves existed in canon (well, until Fox mentioned his blaster offhand in Adventures, but that was well after Melee). They're designed to roughly mimic the functions of an Arwing; Fire Fox is the boost, Blaster is the lasers, and Reflector is barrel rolling to reflect enemy attacks.
• Zelda never used her special moves. Link did. Also, Din's Fire was an area-of-effect explosion rather than a remote projectile, Nayru's Love was purely defensive and Link could move around while protected by it, and Farore's Wind could only go to a checkpoint that you set previously. (A more canon-friendly Farore's Wind would be like Orcane's up-special in Rivals.)
• Pichu cannot learn Electro Ball or Agility. Pikachu can, but not Pichu. Furthermore, unlike Pikachu (who could have it in Red/Blue and, by extension, Sun/Moon), Pichu could never have at any point learned Skull Bash.
• Pichu's attacks (except, funnily enough, Volt Tackle) do not do recoil damage.
• Marth's special moves did not exist, except arguably Counter.
• Zero Suit Samus's Paralyzer did not have a whip mode.
• Out of Wario's special moves, only Shoulder Bash/Wario Bike existed.
• Kirby, Meta Knight, and Bandana Dee could fly indefinitely, or even at worst for a long time.
• Pac-Man does not carry the ghosts with him. They would kill him if he did.
• Isaac could not use a Djinn attack like Vine in rapid succession. He would have to take a turn to set it back from standby mode in order to use it again.
• Isaac could not use Move, Scoop, Catch, or any other attacks involving the psynergy hand in battle. They're used in the overworld to solve puzzles.
• Isaac could not learn Growth, Punji, and Thorn at the same time. They're mutually exclusive to different class builds.
• Sora could use the same spell twice in a row.
• Ichigo does not use Helicopter Blade to fly or blow opponents upward. He uses it to attack from a distance like a flail.

...this is actually pretty fun, trying to think about what creative liberties were taken and where.

Imagine trying to multishine in Star Fox, just spinning in an eternal barrel roll.

Black Mage needs to be more canon friendly too. Instead of having to wait to charge a full smash, it should just cost MP.
