What I think would be cool is if they had pokemon representing different regions and not just the series.
Pikachu: Kanto & Johto
PKMN Trainer or Blaziken: Hoenn (And maybe Kalos, because Mega)
Lucario: Duh
Zoroark: Duh
Mewtwo: Kanto & Kalos (because Mega)

You're basically asking them to add 3 pokemon that played the same role for their generation.
A better way to represent the pokemon is like this;
Pikachu - Main Character (esque)
Meowth - Antagonist
Jigglypuff - Popularity
Lucario/Mewtwo/Zoroark - Poster child
Pokemon Trainer - Video Game rep

See? Instead of adding 3 of the same, just replace one of the other so we can fit in the antagonist!

I love how you take bold and treat it as a legitimate speculation/request. I realize that would never happen, I just think it'd be cool instead of having three or four Gen 1 and one current gen.

I don't get why people even think Zoroark would even be in the game

Mewtwo and Lucario actually got popular on their own, most people just saw Zoroark and just went "oh man another furrybait that they're trying to make popular" instead iirc

I think it is mostly from the fact that Zoroark was the first gen 5 pokemon to be revealed.

I feel like Zoroark occupies the same space that Bowser Jr. does -- he doesn't have so many actual "fans" as he does people who feel like they're obligated to include him

Since I know I'm gonna ruffle some feathers with that, let me clarify: they both have actual fans & supporters, yeah yeah I get that. I'm proud of you for having Jr. in your #1 slot. It just seems that far more people just feel like "he should be included because, if the Mario series gets another character, it should be him" rather than "he should be included because I want him to be"

We already got Rosalina so I highly doubt we'll get a sixth Mario rep. Zoroark seemed like a shoe-in but with the release of Generation 6, its chances have plummeted. I think Mewtwo has a very good shot of coming back now that Gen. 6 has made it relevant again. I'd ultimately like to have both Mewtwo and Lucario come back but I'll understand if we only get one of them.

Also, I really want to see Reggie in this game. Not as a playable character, obviously, but as an assist trophy, if only because I'm curious as to how his "'My Body is Ready' Slam" attack would work.

I think a new Pokemon rep has the most candidates. Literally at this point it's become a nuisance with the inclusion of new generations and megas and what not, so I would much rather spend time thinking of other new reps. But I will continue to cross my fingers for the return of Mewtwo and the removal of Pokemon Trainer and Lucario.

That is my point. As shown from the trailer, Rosalina can exist without Luma and create new ones, so there is no reason for it to be Rosalina & Luma. However, I would much rather have it be Rosalina & Luma instead of Pikmin & Olimar. What on earth is so wrong with calling the character Captain Olimar?

And I feel as if Pokemon Trainer should be removed because it was a mess in the first place. Adding a trainer in the third installment, and having it be a first generation trainer during the fourth generation. And if I ever have to hear a trainer give commands in Smash again, I'm getting rid of my ears. Pokemon can fight on there own, they don't need a trainer in Smash.

But Rosalina's entire moveset revolves around having Lumas that can attack alongside her. They're not just one of her moves.
