Possibly, it kinda would be awkward for WFT to be on the 3DS Version.

But it would be even more awkward for the Villager to be Wii U exclusive, especially since the most recent game was on the 3DS.

On-topic: Well, for this roster, I'd be disappointed (after WFT) if I didn't see every single character that they owned and every character they could get rights to use for the game. It is clear they can implement anyone into Super Smash Bros. It scares me while also making me excited. (OBVIOUSLY, I'm over-exaggerating here, but that would be sorta funny if every existing videogame character came to Smash Bros.)

Smash bros is becoming like Mario Kart in a sense that any random Nintendo character can make it in.

Doubt it, I think they're going to likely keep the same characters. They probably just aren't done yet.

In the developer interview it was stated that the same amount of characters will be in both versions.

That doesn't necessarily mean the same cast of characters will be in both Wii U and 3DS.

I'm not sure why people are treating the whole WFT thing as if nothing similar has ever happened before.

I was very excited when I saw Mega Man and Villager.

I honestly couldn't give a damn about Wii Fit Trainer, I don't think she fits AT ALL.

Here's hoping Little Mac, Pac Man, Isaac, Shulk, Rayman, Takamaru, Ridley, and Slime make it, but only the first parties of these are likely.

I was excited at first, then I saw the trailer for WFT. I seriously pray that this doesn't mean the roster will consist of a bunch of randoms. I believe that Smash should be focused on the most popular characters and those that are on their way to becoming popular/recognized. WFT is certainly not along these lines and I don't think anyone saw her coming. But alas, it will be an interesting twist to the series.

And is anyone else disappointed that the AC rep is Villager? I was really pulling for Tom Nook.

I've been thinking about this for a very long time, wouldn't Jigglypuff also classify as a WTF character by its appearance in the first game?

Don't get me wrong it was a great addition to the series and still is today but weren't pokemon fans at the time furious that out of all the 200+ pokemon that were chosen, a normal, non-fighter type pokemon made the final cut, over someone like Mewtwo?

well, he IS the series' playable character. It would make sense for him to be in.
