This.
Maybe SSF2 would be better without Lloyd.

Lloyd is kind of like Diddy in smash 4. Not considered the absolute best character in the game, but very easy to play effectively while being a very good character in general.

Also you don't really have to try hard to win neutral as Lloyd. Good movement speed, a fast & strong projectile and huge lagless disjoints is just ridiculous.

Combine this with his amazing combo game (very easy 50% combos on the whole cast) and great combo breaker (upB out of a combo, which also leads into your own combos) and you have a very powerful and easy to play character.

I started Lloyd before I knew how strong he was. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

Let me rephrase what you just said real quick;

"Maybe SSF2 would be better without a character who's been around since demo 0.1 and before, has had the most balance changes due to whiny close-minded players and has had his own petition to get a new dev to work on him."

Your welcome.

All of which are constantly being nerfed in every single patch ever.

and despite these nerfs, Lloyd still has these features.
you can't deny that Lloyd has a broken onstage game.

I'm really excited to see what Beta Lloyd brings to the table. he looks more fun both to play with and against.

It won't change his fundamentals though so you might still hate him.

Lloyd is fast, has good combos but not insane ones like Yoshi, Sora, Fox, etc., and a pretty bad projectile. How does this translate to a "broken onstage game"? What does Lloyd have over Marth besides a bad projectile?

I believe his combos are as good as Fox/Yoshi/Sora, but with worse finishers. The damage capability is easily up there.
His projectile is really good idk what you're on about there. How is it bad? It has low startup/endlag, great range, you can use 2 in a row to guarantee a followup and it's pretty big.
He also has marth-like spacing with his giant a** sword.

And to continue about his projectile, if you use both of them its virtually impossible to reflect them back with power shield since the first one cancels out the second...

What I don't like about Demon Fang is that it's slow moving and so not good for long-range harassment, travels at a trajectory that makes it hard to use against aerial opponents, is slow enough to require a commitment, and doesn't have great damage on its own. It serves a purpose for edgeguarding and as a mid-range approach tool, but I don't think it's useful for camping, as an anti-air or defensive tool, and at short range.

Maybe this is just me being ignorant, but what combos does Lloyd have besides uair juggles (which are great against FF'ers but limited-use on platformed stages and floaties), and a couple bread-and-butter autocombos?

Nothing unless you practice forward throw combos which are pretty hard to execute in real matches.

Even if he does have a broken onstage game, his recovery is about to get nerfed to the point where it's gonna be near impossible to recover back onto the stage.

And if you seriously think that fast speed, short start up/end frames and projectiles make a broken onstage character, then you've completely forgotten about Fox, ZSS, Naruto etc. etc.

Also; I personally believe that when focusing on the balance of one character, we should look at the balance of OTHER characters. Why does X character destroy Lloyd? Why does Y get his a** beat? These are all factors that the devs /should/ look at when balancing the game. Maybe that way, characters can get buffs instead of Lloyd getting constant nerfs, it makes it more convenient for Lloyd players as well as players of characters who do get the buffs. Just my 2 cents.

I honestly hope they will buff his recovery height a little since RF is gone. I don't want some Little Mac in SSF2.
Also , Lloyd hag got a lot of aerial combos. You can practically use all his aerials to do so. You just need knowledge.
Again, Suli is right. Nothing to say about it.

Lloyd's aerial game is pretty good. You can try to be like Meta Knight and do Up-Tilt, Up-Air, Tiger Blade and Up-Air again. Even his Forward and Neutral Air is good enough to put characters performing combos off. You can also add an extra jab by doing Side Special (Sonic Thrust) immediately after your two jabs.

Suli Hyuga wrote:
Here's something you can try though; try dash hop > n-air and timing it into an immediate grab. It doesn't work all the time but it's very useful for aggressive play for when you want to skip frames.

That's what I do a lot, and it helps big time. N-Air and just keep tapping Grab and you should be able to grab your opponent immediately after.
