My friend wrote: Funny how you say overpriced when once you get a PC you then have to pay for Anti-Virus, lets say Trend Internet Pro Version $129 per year so for 5 years, and extra $645. Macs don't get viruses so you don't need any of that, so subtract $645 from price. Say you've got Windows Vista Home Basic and you want to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, (WIndows Home Basic usually comes on computers the price of Macbook, $1299 - $645, = $654) that will cost you over $400. on a Mac, Leopard to Snow Leopard, just $39.So $654 - (400 - 39) = $298. (Mac doesn't have versions such as Home Basic, Premium, Business, etc) So when you compare a PC with Windows Vista Home Basic over a five year period a Macbook is worth $298. One other thing, if you want to develop for a platform, on a PC yes you can get "Express Editions" but for full software solutions you'll need the full thing, i.e. Visual Studio, a couple of grand. On a mac everything you need to develop for Mac, iPhone, iPod, iPad is given to you for free, the whole thing no express rubbish and no money; "http://developer.apple.com" Lets say $1000 for Visual Studio, (I am being nice) 298 - 1000 = $-702 What were you saying about overpriced? So the above evidence proves that Macs are not overpriced (I could go on for hours i.e. DDR3 Ram on Mac as opposed to DDR2 on PC, Crashing, Spyware, Malware, dll's the registry, disk defragmentation (don't have to do that on a Mac because it doesn't get fragmented in the first place), the user account control) and PC's are overpriced. I should post this on your forum. |
