Does this really need it's own thread? I mean the majority of those titles that people still play have individual topics in wich said games are discussed.

And platfighting is still a retarded name.

I thought the official name would be party brawler or something. Because seriously, Smash Bros and TMNT Smash Up are the kind of games you wouldn't bring out unless you were having a party around.

B-but, everything has to be a portmanteau when it's a mix of two things, doesn't it?

We should name it after the camera angle since thats another thing these games all have in common then... Wait, other fighting games

Um....The only thing truly shared is "Platforming"

There's a platfighter that you guys missed. Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers. This is an interesting one, because it's the only one of its kind that plays most like a fighting game. Specifically, it has all the directional button combinations. Sol Badguy uses his Gunflame when I hit down-forward-attack, but it's still a fighting game where everyone jumps between platforms.


It's a pretty meh-ish game, but not because of its controls. I'd say it's mainly because of the mini-games, which you have to play, even if they're the worst things ever, if you wanna unlock new moves for Robo-Ky. Who's not even playable in story mode. And sometimes moves just don't even work if you link them to the wrong button prompt.

Poll added, personally I prefer platfighting games because of how chaotic they can get at times (That and you have a lot more room to move around in, usually), but I like traditional fighting games a lot, too.

They are Platform Fighters or Brawlers.



I researched some of Hitman Reborn games and they look pretty interesting, especially Reborn Rumble. I'll have to try it sometime.
