Greetings, I have been lurking the forums as a guest for sometime now. I have read (briefly) the rules and wish to contribute ideas, art, and perhaps music if I can get my act together for decent recording equipment. I have playing SSF2 since the 0.4 demo, which i believe was 2-3 years from now? Upon playing the demos I have noticed a few issues along the lines of crediting. The companies Square, and Namco have changed their names years ago. In 2003 Square (or Squaresoft) merged with Enix granting them the new name Square Enix, while Namco merged with Bandai in 2006 giving them their new name Namco Bandai. Being that the case, the companies should be credited to their most recent names to prevent any chance (even if there is only a small chance) of legal action. Another issue I have seen is the inclusion of the character Bomberman who was created by Hudson Soft, which is now owned by Konami. Neither one of the companies names are credited within the game.
Update: The namco and bandai merge is completely incorrect. They both worked on games under the name Namco Bandai Inc, but are still two separate companies. I completely apologize for this mistake. Namco however, was bankrupt at one point, which lead me to believe Bandai bought them out, but had the courtesy to keep their name. (what was I thinking *facepalm*) Namco however, came back in 2006, and partnered with Bandai following right after. I do hope this isn't a bad first impression, and I do hope to be a contributing member. Last edited by :P on Tue May 28, 2013 9:48 pm, edited 1 time in total. |
