you either connect to the RFMTP(is that what the initials are?) server or turn on peer assisted networking. And since there is no option to connect to the server or even check if you're connected, your best bet is to login and see.

Note: Earlier I said just peer-assist, but then that guy down there chewed me out. :ko: I didn't even know the server worked for gameplay

Ok first of all, Ur wack.
Second of all, Peer assisted networking would not bode well with most players.
The players who already have some problems with lag would be put in an even worse spot, since the connection would be solely dependent on how good their computer is, which can already be established as "Probably terrible".
The players who don't have problems with lag might not be affected as much, but they may find that connection strength is now more dependent on location.
The players in between would be hurt the most, since almost all of them would suddenly be thrown into the "laggy" category.

I mean, I see where you're coming from, I too exist in the group of people who experience minimal lag on maximum settings but are often given the middle fingered "Could not connect to server" message from MGN, but just because the servers aren't perfect doesn't mean they should be done completely away with.

EDIT: I posted this back when the thread was titled something a bit less generalized.

Edited because I realized that was just my own assumption. I just thought the weird freeze-at-the-start-of-the-match thing happened less often when I enabled peer assisted network.
So maybe either P2P or check if you're connected to the server?

Actually I thought the servers, not exaggerating, did not support online gameplay, because macromedia's website says disabling peer-assist could break something.

To be fair, people closer to the server without peer-assist would have things better, but I'm just nitpicking here.

I would like to take the time to tell you how offended I am... If I had any idea what that means(still nitpicking).

True, because by that logic, technology and its creators should all die.

Aaaand I double posted. Dang.

I believe that choosing High Latency instead of Low Latency while creating your room connects you to SSF2's servers rather than directly to your opponent via "peer-to-peer assisted networking".
Low Latency is recommended. But if you're having difficulty with Low, go for High.

I also think that this thread would fit better here - https://forums.mcleodgaming.com/viewtop ... 17&t=44801, so keep that in mind if you're having similar problems or concerns like this in future.

Cheers!
