Ok, it's probably not all TOO underground, but I just got done listening to Acid Rap from Chance The Rapper.
At first, I hated it. It sounded like everything I hate about rap nowadays (like, the mainstream stuff) but then, the more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. I guess I needed something that wasn't exactly 100% about lyrics - plus it might just be because I'm from Chicago (?) is why I like it so much. I haven't heard this style of rap in a while. It's about drugs, money, and women - everything I HATE about mainstream rap, but...it's not like every single one of his verses are littered with that, y'know? And unlike them, he makes SENSE. He's not just saying a bunch of random s*** to a beat.

I dunno, it just grew on me somehow.
Now I'm pretty much just listening to all the albums I missed out on a while back for whatever reason. I'll probably get Childish Gambino's "Camp" next, then most of everything that's in this topic.

Favorite hip-hop album is still probably the ziggurat.

Danny Brown has been growing on me a lot lately, and I always find myself going back to Yung Lean, haha.

But I haven't been listening to much hip-hop this year, (other than Piñata,) anything recent that's worth checking out?

accordion samples daedelus and that automatically makes it great

it's a good album, a nice introduction into hip hop if you're new to the genre. i usually recommend madvillainy to people that are getting into hiphop
