I feel like you're projecting a character onto him

I get the feeling he means "hidden" as in unlockable content in which case, this doesnt count as hidden content.

technically I don't think it is hidden
It does seem odd to show it pre-launch though

Or maybe he doesn't consider it a "hidden feature"? because it really isn't

I don't think it's necessarily him being unenthusiastic, it's more of "God dammit I have to pretend this s***'s new info for the next few weeks..." type of thing.

He still has the WiiU version to talk about. I personally think he's still pretty enthousiastic to be honest.

Ya guys notice how much Pika's different? He's more of aerial and less ground now.
I can think of a few buffs/nerfs I've noticed at the top of my head...:
Fsmash is even stronger than before. - Though it's slower at startup.
Dsmash is also stronger, but hits less and has more ending lag. - However, it's nearly impossible to get out of. This is true for almost all multihit attacks.
Dash attack's sweetspot is now powerful, haven't bothered to mess with the sourspot yet.
Thunder's projectile comes out as early as frame 2 I believe, meaning if someone were to grab you the projectile will still hit them afterwards. - It also meteor smashes at the top of the cloud, though it's extremely hard to land. - The projectile itself is smaller though.
Quick Attack is stronger, and has hardly any landing lag. I think it may do more damage too. - I've also noticed you can't Quick Attack Cancel anymore, but hopefully his buffs make him less reliant on it.
Fair has had it's landing lag almost completely depleted, so you can now reliably follow up on it. Heck you can even combo into another fair afterwards if you wanted to.
Skull Bash gains great distance now, you can even fly past all of Final Destinaton when fully charged. - It's priority is lower though, getting beat by most standard attacks, like smashes and dash attacks.
Down tilt has been sped up a bit, may cover more range as well.
Down throw has more knockback growth, limiting it's followups. - Nonetheless, it's still good for juggles.
Pikachu has also lost the ability to chain grab due to the new physics. Other characters seem to suffer from this as well.
Volt Tackle deals less damage, and knockback. - I think it lasts longer though.
WELL, DAT'S ALL FER NOW.
Peace!

He did say that every character was rebuild from the ground up, so of course there's gonna be a bunch of changes.

Well yes changes to the characters are inevitable (not only because they were rebuilt, but since it's you know, a different game) but people are still going to want to learn those changes, so thanks for pointing those out.

Since we only have five characters to use so far...I might as well say something about each of them.
I'm disappointed in Link. Sure, I'm not a Zelda fan or anything, but I had hoped that such a famous Nintendo character would get more buffs. But he is still too slow to work with...maybe I'm using him wrong, I dunno. Though I just learned about the meteor smash he has, so...hmm.
Pikachu is okay. I like how Thunder comes out so soon (and therefore is a better "get off me" move), but I can't seem to connect otherwise with him. He was really difficult to deal with at first though, especially with the CPU's Thunder Jolt spamming.
Mario is a clear winner this time around. He has good combos, a better down-throw, and a greatly-improved f-air. He seems to also have some KO power now.
Mega Man seems great if your opponent doesn't have reflecting capability. Great vertical recovery, unique smashes, juggling ability w/ up-smash, and great range overall.
Villager seems to be like Olimar was to me in Brawl -- not in how he plays, but in that everyone loves him and seems to think he's OP, yet I don't feel the same. But those alts...
tl;dr: Mario will be my main 'til I can use Lucario, Link will probably stay as the one I go to when I want to wreck someone with Triforce Slash, and Villager will come in handy when I wanna plant a tree.

If Mega Man seems great you probably don't have a strong grasp on what makes characters good or bad in a smashbros game.
