I'm guessing the release date would be around Late 2015 - Early 2016, or the Summer of 2016.
They started working on it ever since 2014, so if it takes them this long, it's probably gonna be released later, _{or earlier}, than we think.

My assumption is Summer to Fall '16 at the very earliest. Because let's be realistic here; even a relatively minor update which only adds three characters or so takes around a year, and that's usually not enough time; how many demos in a row have gotten to us in an incredibly rushed state at first because we've been impatient? And Beta has been stated to be the final demo, which means they have to make sure that everything is flawless before release. That means all physics changes, all resprites, and a lot of new content (including what I'm certain is more than just three or four characters like most demos up to this point have been; that would be underwhelming, and the devs know it, so in exchange, we have to wait longer to accommodate the extra programming time for characters beyond that) has to be finalized.

And you know what, devs? Take all the time you need, please. Rushing invariably leads to the product suffering, not to mention you guys suffering. I always get worried about you when Apex rolls around, for example, because you hardly even have the opportunity to sleep. Don't do that to yourselves with this release.

It would come out early 2016 or late 2015, i highly doubt it would be next summer.

Again, this is the final demo. It's going to add more new content than several of the previous demos put together. And that's just characters and stages. That's not even taking into account new modes, which have to have their own brand new logic programmed into them and bug testing to be done.
Oh, yes, bug testing. The devs have made it clear that they're going to crack down on bugs before the first release, unlike the initial releases of the previous Apex demos – 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b, how many years does that span? At least three –which were invariably rushed to be a glitchy mess because of the impatient players' demands.

Pretty sure they said they're not giving an exact release date (at least not any time soon). I find a character announcement more likely. But let's not get our hopes up.

I agree with you on this one. I still think they are planning to reveal at least 1-3 more characters for Beta. Although, with a release date, I think that might come in the Direct if they do one.

Actually, an announcement for an upcoming McLeodGaming Direct on the last Smashboards article sounds somewhat likely in comparison to other possibilities.
