What I'm saying is that the whole SSB falling in the middle deal isn't really true at all. Brawl was broken in a million different ways, but Melee's maintained a successful meta-game and tournament scene for more than 10 years now, and continues to grow. That's two totally different extremes, and when you've only got three in the series, it's hard to argue that it consistently falls in the middle of the balance spectrum.

iirc the original ssb was also broken with pikachu being very overpowered it wasn't quite as bad as ssbb, considering pikachu was still psuedo-beatable by most characters whereas only a handful of characters can even put a dent in metaknight, but still it's not really fit to be played competitively

SSB was pretty broken too yeah. the only reason the top two characters were beatable by anyone else was because there was so much hitstun that you could lock anyone from 0% to death with any character.

They're not. They're just saying it was broken, which it was.

It's still an amazing game dude. No-one's saying it's not. It's just at high level play, the first person to get a hit will win that stock pretty much.

Speaking of SSB, I remember how well the throws were, but they were as overpowered as f***. Then in Melee, they were sorta meh, but could still work. Then you came to Brawl and.. oh god why are they so bad now. I hope they're more like melee's in SSB4.

What you talkin bout, a lot of throws can be used for combos in Brawl. Just about every character has at least 1 throw they can link something after it. Though some characters have all crap throws in terms of killing power (Marth). Lets not forget chaingrabs as well... Sure those might have been possible in melee, but how many characters can do it? Theres quite a few who can in Brawl.

In brawl throws were ridiculous on certain characters, as well as grab-release time. Dedede could just chain grab the entire cast across Final Destination and back.

I think Marth's grabs were good for putting the opponent at a distance to where he can hit them with his smash attacks' sweet spots.

But still the throw itself was crap in terms of killing power. Im well aware that Marth can link into a Smash Attack with his throws, as well as being able to chaingrab a few times on certain characters. But his throws themselves wont ever give you KO's, not unless the opponent has like 400+ damage.

A throw's usefulness is almost never characterized by it's KO ability.
