Nintendo's E3 2011 keynote yesterday gave the world its first official look at the all-new Wii U hardware plus (we thought) a glimpse at the graphical capabilities of its next console. As it turns out, the impressive list of upcoming games for the 2012-bound console was just that, a list, with the visuals we saw on screen coming from PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of said titles. Nintendo of America chief Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed that to be the case in an interview with GameTrailers, where he also points out that the eventual Wii U games will look at least as good as their PS3 / 360 counterparts. Which is why, in his eyes, it's okay to show us those games being played on the competition's (current-gen) hardware. He does remind us that the Wii U will be delivering graphics at a 1080p resolution, and points to the garden tech demo that also graced E3 as an indicator of what can be done with Nintendo's next console.

That's... Kinda pathetic.

I could understand if they were using a PC to simulate the general strength of their console, for the purpose of tech demos...

But using your COMPETITION to do it? That's just... Lazy and misleading.

I still have my small hopes for Nintendo.

You all (besides kyuubit) fail to recognize the -interactive- Zelda tech demo, and the video of the bird flying.

You fail to realize that we don't give a s*** about that.

When you make as big a blunder as they did, the good stuff doesn't matter.

Kinda like when Microsoft hired a guy to "play" the Kinect before it was released, except that the guy was obviously just matching his movements to the pre-recorded video on screen.

Don't 'give a s***' about facts? Oh my, how unlike you.

It's not even a blunder though?
These are the games that Nintendo is proudly announcing to be released on the system, and at the moment the only versions of those games are the PS3/360 ones. It's that or just have a bunch of titles in text-format for their game list. Reggie said a few times during the interview that whatever is, in 2012, considered to be current-gen graphics, will be able to run on the Wii U. They showed us this potential through the Zelda HD tech demo and that bird/flowers video that everyone thought was going to be a Pikmin 3 announcement.

CG rendered on a console that matches CG of this generation. Oh my...

Hakker doesn't care about those demos because right off the bat they opened up with misleading images of gameplay created on another console.

They didn't "open up" with anything of the sort. You clearly didn't watch the presentation, and if that's what Hakker's complaining about then neither did he.
All the stuff they opened up with and used to demo the graphics capabilities were generated on the console, xbox and ps3 footage wasn't used until towards the end when they were showing a montage of what games they were advertising to be available on the system. PS3 and 360 footage were not used at any point during any of the several graphics presentations.

360 did that. How well did that work out for them?

Kyuubit, the Wii U has already been promised support from all the big-name third party developers. It's also more powerful than the 360 or PS3.
This means that the third party developers are going to produce games in a format that can run on the Wii U, and aren't going to bother making crappy dumbed-down versions for the other two systems. People are going to have to buy the Wii U to get the next in line of their favourite third party franchises, it's going to do fine.
