You're right. Also his up air is fantastic to use after up smash, if you can hit with the very tip at high damage %.

Just found a good KO combo for Sonic. Spin Dash-->jump-->B-air works like a charm at the higher percents, as long as you can hit the Spin Dash.

He didn't get nerfed to the point where he's unviable. He's just not OP anymore and takes more skill.

That was a textbook, very simple, MM playstyle. As we can see, it's hard for Sonic to get in on MM (and so wide stages with less platforms would be good for playstyles like this MM's, think FD and Pokemon Stadium) but when he gets in he does a lot. It also doesn't help that powershielding MM's projectiles does nothing. Sonic wins the MU imo but MM doesn't have to do anything complicated to hold off Sonic. If powershielding his projectiles worked then this would be easy but...

Try to work on sticking to your opponent and applying shield pressure.

Up-tilt is a decent combo starter, and shorthop fair creates a ton of shield pressure.

In regards to the video, he's ok.

In regards to my original opinion about Sonic, I've changed my mind....
Just about every character has offense options, that is, everyone but Sonic (which annoys the heck outta me).

To put it in a simple term, Sonic is just plain awkward to control (fast dash, slow airspeed, course this could be homage to the real games). Not to mention his lack of approach options, having weird attack properties, he has no combo extenders, and having a terrible recovery. Plus, his upb functions like Mega Man's. Meaning if you're flinched, you can't use it again.

I guess it annoys me that a character like him lacks good, solid attacks (which stinks even moar cuz I lik Sonic #SadFace); fair is a perfect example.

It doesn't seem right to nerf characters like Sonic and Meta Knight and buff the other characters to extent where they're all seen as top-tier material, especially if you take something they rely on alot and don't replace it with another tool (MK is still ok tho). Not to mention nerfing the heck out of em' doesn't do em' justice ether.

Bottom line, Sonic today is more based on mindgames than anything, which can hurt against campers due to his lack of approach options.

Are you crazy? It's terrible....

The ending lag is enough to grab OoS unless the Sonic player is frame-perfect, not to mention the shield-stun is lackluster so you'll probs get grabbed anyway.

Eh, I don't really agree. Sonic plays a lot like he does in Brawl, with mind games aplenty. However I feel as if SSF2 gives him more offensive options, besides being a hit and run character. The only real suggestion I can make for him is replacing the fair with his fair from Project M, but that's probably never going to happen.

I wouldn't say his recovery is absolutely terrible though. He has options with homing attack and his sideb. I think his up b is possibly a glitch considering it seems to happen randomly (Or not. It seems like whenever I get hit RIGHT when I use it, it disables every special besides the down b, and doesn't restore until after you've landed on solid ground for a good few seconds.)

The only noticeable problem I've had with Sonic is that he has quite a bit of endlag after performing an aerial and landing. It can make him somewhat slow to continuing combos. I've noticed that with quite a few characters though, so YMMV.

I used to really like Sonic's Light Dash way back v0.8b. Lower damage and knockback, but even greater distance and combo utility and the charge released the instant you released the button. Plus his movement felt less clunky. Also he could cross the Temple of Time in one jump using Light Dash and Spin Dash.

Then v0.9a hit and I was like "what happened to my Light Dash? Why does it do high damage? Why does it cause so much knockback? Why is the charge release so laggy?"

Also in the new version the sweetspot barely KOs at 128% versus training mode idle Mario with on FD. lol.
