I voted yes, but then switched to no when I saw the religion science comment. I feel like we should shy away from the conversation of political science and intellectual bigotry, which we definitely would see at some point.

I'm not saying let's not have intellectual discussions, I just think it won't work out like Mr. Mcleod mentioned. We'll probably see arguments when to opposing views meet in the same topic.

I agree with a cultured topical discussion instead like music and art.

It won't ever get to the point where it would spiral downward. We'll probably try out controversial issues like religion for example, but if it doesn't work out I'll create a list of banned topics of discussion. Very simple, you don't have to ditch the whole idea. Don't let sour grapes spoil the bunch.

I believe that when limited to members who carry themselves well, discussions about religion could more interesting and less painful. We'll see when/if the section happens.

moderation wasn't the issue. The issue was that it died because not enough people contributed, which is going to happen again. I also thinkthere are going to be a lot of threads where people aren't sure if their topic belongs in here, in the lounge, or in other. Other and the lounge are sitting on blurred lines enough nowadays as it is.

Not really, it died down because users were tired of the arguments that kept getting lit up by certain users whenever someone tried to spark a conversation, which comes from poor moderation and user management. I don't think it'll be as inactive as you forecast.

Well if someone actually keeps up with moderating debates then yeah this could work. But last time it just sort of fell into disuse as people got bored of it. A name change isn't going to help that either. No harm in trying again, if this many people feel like they want it.

I certainly ain't opposed to trying things. it's like asking which side of a coin is landed more but you only flip it once and assume that is the majority. It takes multiple trials to see if something really works. The only thing I can suggest is to do it differently from last time or the same result may occur.

Lol that's a pretty bold statement. From the sound of it this section will be almost entirely in your hands since you were the one who suggested it, but seeing as it has all of this support we can probably give it a shot. However I will have to discuss with you the initial rules of the section so we don't get off to a bad start.

If anyone else has any further comments on the section being created, now's the chance to say it
