Not to mention you can save your last kart combination. The dumb ad cars are more than worth it for that level of polish.

As well as being able to see our coins, i need that gold glider for 100% and it's a pain to not know how much I have to get it.

There's nothing wrong with coins being an item. People who complain about it making it harder to stay in first should git gud at the game.

it's an issue with rubber banding to the max and the odd balancing. look at the item chart. it's terrible.
you can get a banana in 12th place. gee, that's sure useful.



(before you say "no you can't", item distribution is actually based on distance and not placing.)

why can you only get crazy 8, one of the most game-changing items, slightly before first place? why not in last place so you can rapid-fire and fix your placing?

the coins are a load of s***. you can't carry a shell behind you and carry a second item. the coin makes you defenseless. it makes the last few seconds of the race into a game of luck. you have a coin and the AI got a red shell on the last item box? you're f***.

As someone who is humbly f*** boss at Mario Kart, the coins are a balance problem. "Get good" is not a valid argument. As Kuro said, the inability to stock one item while dragging another combined with the total uselessness of coins creates somewhat frequent scenarios where you're totally defenseless. And your opponent just got three red shells

It's not something that can be fixed in a patch though. To make it work better would require major rebalancing of all the item statistics, and possibly the outright removal of the coin item. It feels to me like they'd be changing too much of the game for comfort.

Besides, it still isn't as bad as Mario Kart Wii's item balance
