*UPDATED 9/26/2014* -New tournament listing, going to Apex 2015 qualifier with Falco. -edited favorite stage/best character, pointing out lack of Mario wall jump is unnoticeable. Also added that Fireball as an approach can follow up into a d-tilt. *UPDATED 9/27/2014* -Lloyd added as main, replacing Pikachu. Name (aka Handle):Pokepen. How old are you?:I am what you would call a youngster, at 12 years old. Turning 13 in January, in 7th grade. Which characters do you play in SSF2? Why do you play these characters? (Note: do not list characters that are not currently in the game): Black Mage: I main Black Mage Because he can combo like a champ, and has an amazing recovery. I don't prefer using him on a stage like final destination, because the combos are more efficient with platforms. At low %'s, Uair can juggle the opponent, and can give off an easy 20% or more. The Uair works better on stages with platforms, because you can combo it into something else. SideB Is too fast now, soo I guess that could take a slowdown. Lloyd: I main Lloyd because I enjoy how his attacks work, and have found that Dair is a great offstage tool. Sonic thrust is very fast, and is a good KO move. If I was to make one change to Lloyd, it would be to let his D-air sweetspot the edge (gimmick purposes >:D). How much experience do you have with official Smash titles? (SSB64, Melee, Brawl. Include in this answer which characters you play/played.): SSB64: Yoshi, Ness, Luigi SSBM: Falco, Marth, Luigi SSBB: Ice Climbers, Marth, Kirby Project M: Roy, Ganondorf, Luigi Have you ever attended any Smash tournaments? If so, give some details about the tournament (number of participants, which games, etc). How well did you place?I am attending the Apex 2015 qualifiers in the Pacific Northwest from Dec. 20-21st When did you start playing SSF2?v0.4 is when I started playing SSF2. I got back into the game when v0.8 came out, and I started playing competitively in v0.9b. What is your favorite stage in SSF2? Explain.Yoshi's story is my favorite stage because I like how the platforms are arranged, and how the base of the map is shaped. Mario's recovery is very efficient on this stage, even without the Wall jump from previous entries. Who, in your opinion, should be placed first on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a higher level than all others?I have been playing with Mario recently, and he is amazing. His recovery is buffed, his attacks are strong, Fair comes out fast, and movement isn't a concern. Star Spin gains more vertical distance then the Mario Tornado. His air speed seems faster in this game. I might main him once I gain the experience. Even without Wall jump, he is terrific. Also, you can use the fireball as an approach, and follow it up into various things, but I use d-tilt most because it is the easiest. Who, in your opinion, should be placed last on the SSF2 tier list? Under competitive settings why would this character perform on a lower level than all others?Link isn't a bad character, he just is the worst out of a cast of incredibly strong characters. If you could make only one change to SSF2 as it currently is, what would it be and why?AI suicides. sometimes the AI will just suicide, and ruin the match. What is your view on items in competitive play?Items add a luck based factor to the game that would kinda spoil competitive matches. I guess it could work If they had specific items, though. Bob-Ombs spawning above you is the worst... Do you have or can you download Skype? You don't need a mic or webcam.I own a webcam. I have a Skype account, but I don't really use it. Why do you want to join the Smash Flash Back Room? What will you contribute? Why are you an exceptional applicant? Be as detailed as possible.-Skilled Player. Will post videos with gameplay. -Knowledge on characters. I have tried every character, and I can feel the differences from other entries. For example, Kirby's Nair can actually combo efficiently in this game. -Knowledge on tech, I have found something that I call a "Dash-Tilt", which I bet people already found. When you initiate a dash, there is no startup animation, meaning that you can perform a D-tilt very early in the dash. What are your thoughts on the Mario vs Black Mage match up? Who do you think wins? By how much (in +1/-1 format)? Why?
Please place these stages in either the neutral, counterpick or banned categories. (Hazards off) Give reasons for your placements.
Clock Town Mirror Chamber Jungle Hijinx
ps You can mash B during DK's recovery to gain height.

Didn't know that about DK, then Link might be a contender. Fair should be changed to be widened, so it can approach the opponent easier, or just his approach in general should be buffed, and maybe his combo potential. Also, I think I MIGHT reconsider putting Mario at the top. but he would still be top tier in my eyes (2nd-5th on tier list) Clock Town - Banned I believe Clock Town should be a banned stage. The stage requires a huge shift in strategy and gameplay in order to have a good match. Some characters' full jumps can't even reach the 1 platform that is positioned in between the other 2, and higher up. Oh yeah, and the stage is pretty much 3 platforms. They are very small in area, and if you get hit down the middle of the stage; say good bye to your stock. Mirror Chamber - Neutral I believe Mirror Chamber should be a neutral stage. The advantages that some characters have on this stage are when they are in situational positions under the stage. It could be a slight advantage for BM or Pikachu (coincidentally my mains), but nothing game changing. The platforms are arranged to where they resemble Battlefield/Dreamland, but flipped vertically. Jungle Hijinx - Neutral I believe Jungle Hijinx should be a neutral stage. The stage is a platform to the right, a change of level in the middle, and edges you don't have to worry about climbing up w/ characters like Mario. it doesn't really give something to one player that would probably decide how fast the stock would end. You won't have a terrible character on this stage. Mario VS Black MageMarioPros: -Fast Attacks+Speed -Projectile provides an approach -Can combo and can Chaingrab -great vertical recovery, decent horizontal recovery Cons: -recovery lasts long, making it somewhat gimpable -range isn't very good Black MagePros: -Has an array of kill moves -long lasting hitboxes which assist gimping ability -Can combo easily -Very long recovery Cons: -Recovery is gimpable -Bad approach, is troubled against camping 50/50 (what do you mean by +1/-1 format? I'm assuming that means Mario would win 5 out of 10 matches played). Black Mage has a bad approach, and Mario has fast attacks, so Black Mage can't screw up too big. Mario has a better approach. In Black Mage's favor, He can combo pretty good, too, and can gimp Mario pretty hard once he is far enough off stage. BRING ON THE QUESTIONS (they are surprisingly fun to answer)

Oh, and I will re-answer what change I would make to SSF2.
If I could change one thing in ssf2, it would be to nerf muilti-hit attacks. You tend to get stuck in them in this game moreso then the other entries. Heck, a good Yoshi can get 30% off of you with Dair.

A match is being played between a Black Mage and a Donkey Kong. Assume a list of five starter stages consisting of Battlefield, Smashville, Dreamland, Yoshi's Story and Pokémon Stadium 3, hazards off. Black Mage bans first in a 1-2-1 stage striking order. On which stage is the match played? Explain in as much detail as possible who struck which stages and why they did so.

I'd consider it one of the main console Smash games, definitely more so than Brawl because the competitive scene actually exists.

Still not an official game since Nintendo never published it. I like it more than Brawl, but it's still not an official game.
Btw, can someone lock this thread?
