Due to people deciding to disregard my regulations for my tournament http://challonge.com/20_Dollar_itunes_Giftcard_to_Winner , I've decided it best if I finalize this ever debated topic.... should we or should we not have more locked-character tournaments? I mean, anybody can just pick a character they're decent with and beat another persons character, all along knowing that the MU statistics fell in your favor. That doesn't require much skill at all. And this issue is another reason why MU charts are so wildly opinionated.... because people chose characters they know are better than their adversary's, and decide not to bother and find out if your other characters can compete as well or even better than your 'safe' pick. If more tournaments like these where created, we would be having less of a challenge creating a stable tier list... and more fun further enhancing the meta of the game... I'm not sure...just a thought.

It's about how you want your tournament to be ran.
Personally I think locked, would be a fun little niche, if people dont like it they dont have to participate.
Dont let whiners who dont know how to have fun dictate your tournament.

I'm all for trying out locked character selection, sounds interesting, but that really takes away a lot of pre-game tactics for character swaps and stage selects, which adds quite a deep level of play in tournaments.
At the end of the day, you run your tournament how you want to, you don't have to listen to the polls, but I'm voting for open selection.

I wouldn't mind doing a one character tourney anyway. Haven't a locked tourney would be interesting. You should try one and see how it goes.
